What is... Halo?

I don't care much for shooters though. I've only played the first Halo, and I don't plan on playing this... Not saying I hate it though, it's just another one of those games that everyone plays. I rather play things that are more off-the-beaten-path.

i want to point out that i don't have halo 2 or 3 but still i want it, and i know a lot of people in my same situation.

bad games don't exist (except that game of trucks with no AI and physics, i forgot the name) i mean sure a lot of people hate Dora the explorer, but little kids love that game, and sonic games a lot more people hate them but i enjoy sonic games, fanboyism or not i still enjoy it.

Why are you questioning the numbers? Even if there were more people who have an interest in having Halo or don't have Halo, these numbers won't go from 9 million people to 18 million people, which would be 0.02% of the population.

Flashman, what are you trying to accomplish?

As Tsug just pointed out, regardless of the accuracy of my numbers, there's not going to be some massive shift that just suddenly says "hey 50% of the world loves halo".

Ever seen Heroes? Great show. During the course of the show, they talk about a 0.07% loss of the world's population. "An acceptable loss for the greater good", they say. That's even more people than people who know / want Halo.

Only one thing I want to clarify because I'm tired of all you people trying to win my sympathy going "i lost respect for you" for absolutely no reason. I've played both Halo games and I've had the opportunity (and interest) to buy them at least twice. I didn't. I fall in the 99.9%. I either don't know what Halo is or have no interest in purchasing it.

But wait, I just said I had interest! Apparently, not enough interest to plop down the cash. Back in 2002 when I was deciding whether I wanted an Xbox or a Gamecube (To be perfectly honest, it was a dead heat. All I knew was "Smash Brothers or Halo?"), I was willing to buy either console for one game. And that one game for Xbox was Halo. And I ultimately didn't buy it. That means my interest eventually fell toward another game instead of Halo. Thus, I didn't have enough interest to buy the game. Even later in life when it came out on PC I didn't buy it. By that time I played it on Xbox and found out I would only enjoy the game for its co-op single player--something I couldn't get on the PC version.

Needless to say, I'm very happy I bought a Gamecube instead of an Xbox. A total of two games for Xbox came out that I wanted, and they both came to PC: KOTOR and Fable. I own 42 games for my Gamecube and I'm looking to make that 45 with a few more purchases when the games are really cheap. The same goes for this generation. So far, I haven't seen a title on the PS3 or 360 that interested me. Rock Band is the first game I wanted that won't be on Wii (except it will eventually according to some folks at the company). And I won't be dropping $400 for the console and $170 for the game just to play one game that I need 3 other people to enjoy.

yeah the numbers are not important in this thread, what it bother us is the fact that you say this:

Ok, so I can't say these either?

Red Steel wasn't a bad game, it just had horrible controls.
God of War wasn't a bad game, it was just too short.
Odin Sphere wasn't a bad game, it was just too repetitive.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz wasn't a bad game, it just had stupid multi-player games.

I get it! If I dislike one aspect of a game, I should hate the game!

ok you bashed counter strike and you now say that halo 2 is just as bad as counter strike........ok let's see you bash the single player, and also you bash the multiplayer experience (becuase if im not mistaken that's the part you bashed of counter strike) in other words you are bashing the whole game

What I actually said was:

Halo 2 is just as bad as Counter Strike in the large scale of things. There are a bunch of fanboys who refuse to play any other game despite the fact that Counter Strike is incredibly pathetic. You're the exact same way. There are other FPSes out there. Better ones. You can play them online against other people and have lots of fun. But you continue to return to Halo time and time again. I'll never understand it.

I was saying that the fanbase for Counter-Strike is just as bad as the fanbase for Halo 2. This later lead to a discussion about how bad the community of these two games is. People who slander, insult, curse, and threaten other players. That's just horrible. I'm glad I'm not a part of it.

I don't know how you all continue to mis-interpret what I write, but it's pretty phenomenal to see it happening so many times.

ohhhhhhh.........my bad XD i guess i did misinterpret what you said. and i think it happens a lot because you make things a little confusing (at least for me, but that's for a obvious reason).

anyway if you don't wanna make the fanboys angry you can just say:
halo is not a bad game, but it's a short (wich it doesn't mean is pathetic)

How is he bashing other games! He doesn't have to like every aspect of the game in order to like it! I'll complain about my favorite games, but that doesn't mean I hate it! On the flip-side, I'll always say my favorite things about the things I hate. A good example would be Naruto, I hate it with almost every ounce of my being, but I'm not afraid to admit I like an arc in the show. I hate pretty much every other arc in it, but the fact that most of the arcs sucks doesn't mean they all do.

Bashing a game is where someone says that every single aspect of the game completely fails and could've been done better. Controls is just an aspect of the game, but the controls doesn't affect the story line, the graphics, etc. All those can be good and the fact that the controls may suck doesn't mean they will too. Now if he said that the entire game sucks because of the controls, that would be bashing.
