Every hundred years a comet passes over the Mushroom Kingdom while raining down magical stars and stardust.
While Princess Peach and the citizens of Mushroom Kingdom celebrate the centennial event, Bowser and his minions attack!
As Mario attempts to stop Bowser, things go awry.

Worlds/Galaxies Known
Nintendo has announced that this game will have 6 different Galaxies to explore, just the right amount.
Eggplant Galaxy - The Galaxy Mario first begins in, flying from planet to planet, lurking around for the Prehistoric Piranha, a dinosauric figure of Peter Piranha.
Honeybee Galaxy - A lush green world with many grassy areas and giant bees, with one section consisting of a series of hovering flowers surrounded by water-spurting pipes. In this world, Mario can turn into a bee, and one of his missions is to help the Queen Bee.
Star Dust Galaxy - The Star Dust Galaxy is made up of small floating spheres and structures, with different enemies and obstacles.
There is a point in this Galaxy where you pull Mario through space by pointing the Wii Remote at blue crystals in the air that levitate Mario towards them.
Power Suits
Something new about this game is that there are Power Suits, which when Mario wears gives him powers never before seen in a Mario game.
Bee Mario (Bee Suit) - You are able to transform into Bee Mario in the Honey Bee World by finding a giant gold coin to make a yellow and brown striped mushroom appear somewhere else. Once you find that and grab it, you'll be able to turn into Bee Mario.
As Bee Mario you'll be able to fly, although for only a short amount of time, and not that far, either.
Bee Mario is able to cling onto and clamber up honeycomb walls.
Water is this Power Suits weakness - Touch it and you'll lose it

Items
Star Peices: These are the broken peices of the Star Cannon (No name released yet). When you gather up the 5 missing peices on a lone planet, the Star Cannon will appear to shoot you to another planet. Although there is another use for these Stars: they can help people get out of certain death. When the Star Cannon is broken, Mario must find the pieces to fix it.
Beam Stars: These floating, blue orbs of light appear with Stars in them. When a player points the Wiimote at one of these and presses the A Button, the orb pulls Mario into it's orbit via a beam of light. They usually appear in a chain sequence as a form for transportation. Be warned, if one of these pop while Mario is inside, Mario will be pulled to the closest Planet with the strongest gravitational pull.
Piranha Plant Vines: Whenever Mario shoots or stomps on a Piranha Plant, it will disappear and a vine will shoot out for Mario to climb.
Mario grabs on when the player thrusts the Wiimote forward.
Mario climes it when you swing the Wiimote rapidy side to side, but slides down if you stop.
Pollen Sprouts: Giant dandelion seedlings that Mario spins on it order to travel from Planet to Planet.
Information
Nintendo has also implemented a special gravity system for the Planets, for a new, special way of Gameplay.
A great thing about this game is that it with have Co-Op mode throughout the Story, all you have to do is get another Wiimote and connect it to your Wii, then you'll be able to play through the Story, together!
Reggie says it's the first worthy successor to the almighty Super Mario 64.
There are 120 Power Stars to find throughout the game.
