Re: Delta Sector: Operation Shadow Strike
I know it hasn't been long since the last update, but I don't care. I feel like I've done a fair chunk of work. I also wanna make sure the installer works for everybody.
So here's Test Version 7, way ahead of schedule: http://www.onisplitter.net/DS_OSS_T07_setup.exe (thanks again Oni for hosting
)
Changelog:
In case you didn't read the changelog: NO UNZIPPING OR WORK NEEDED THIS TIME! As long as you have Java (which has only been a problem for like, 1 person so far) all you have to do is run the installer and it will do it all for you!! Sorry to those of you that don't want icons in your start menu and on your desktop, I'll make those options in the installer later on.
But yeah, it's a lil more user-friendly to get the game now. Please tell me if any of you have trouble with the installer, cuz I really need it to work super fabulously.

)Changelog:
Code:
Bugfixes: -Fixed the problem with lasers colliding with your own shields. Whoops. -Fixed the problem with ground enemies not getting killed by the shield pulse. Yeah, I just never play with the shield ship. Sorry. =( -Fixed the bug with infantry parachutes not playing their animation when paratroopers hit the ground. -Fixed the exploit whereby you could fire all 3 weapons at once. For you nasty little exploiters that miss that "feature" so bad, check out the Unity ship. ;) -That fix also fixed the floating weapons glitch, which often happened while switching weapons rapidly to abuse the ability to fire all 3 at once. New Stuff: -New Ship Variant: Unity All its stats are boosted a lil (but none as much as the main stat of other ships). Its special ability is to fire all of its weapons at once. While doing this all the weapons have boosted damage and firerates. They will also share experience 3-ways, which I believe can make you lose a point here or there, so be careful. This ship is innately able to switch weapons twice as fast. -New Ally: Helicopter (press 4 to spawn) -New Ally: Truck (armed and unarmed) (press 5-6 to spawn) -New Ally: Tank (press 9 to spawn) -Allied infantry was expanded just like enemy infantry was in v6. They'll now be launched by explosions, crushed by tanks, come running out of dead allies, etc. -Your missiles now leave smoke trails. :) -New portrait for transmissions added. Though you won't see it if you suck. ;) Changes: -Explosions now have 50% armor piercing, up from 25%. -Increased power of enemy Bombers and Mortars (their explosions sucked). -The allied buildings at the beginning are now actually allies, rather than level pieces. This means 1) You and allies won't hit them anymore, 2) They can be destroyed. -On that note, the beginning of level 1 may play out a little differently. ;) -The player's ship now bears its Echo One Niner insignia. -I didn't disable the Test Level option this time around. If you want to try messing levels (and I know some of you do), go right ahead. Be aware, though, that this feature is kinda picky, and if you get anything wrong it will crash the game. If you don't care, just don't use it. =P Exterior to the game: -This is the first version that will use the installer. If it has any problems, let me know asap so I can fix it. I will eventually include the Java installation into the game's installer so that ALL the work is taken off of the user. -The game now has an icon. I may change it later on, but it works for now. :)
But yeah, it's a lil more user-friendly to get the game now. Please tell me if any of you have trouble with the installer, cuz I really need it to work super fabulously.
