    No... you're thinking in reverse.

A Wii CONNECTS to wireless. It does not generate its own signal.

That "USB thingie" you mentioned is basically a wireless router. When you use a wireless router, it takes the Internet connection you have through your computer and broadcasts it through the air ("wi-fi"), so other things like your DS or Wii can pick up on it and get online too.

You can probably find a wireless router (which is better) cheaper than that.

My wireless router was $2. Just wait for a sale on one.

I can't stand the spike/lag of wireless stuff(I play tons of games where spike/lag really matter, even in milliseconds), so I may not get a DS/Pokemon Pearl in this case. Come to think of it, the main reason I wanted it was to play an official Pokemon game online.

Aw... lag really doesn't matter in this though, since there's no online realtime activity. Milliseconds of lag isn't worrisome when it's turn-based battle or trade.

Quick question: If I have a wireless router on my computer will the DS recognise that and let me have wireless usage, or do I need another wireless router for it specifically?

Also, I might actually be getting one of these. They are starting to interest me more than the Wii. Pink, of course. There is a deal to get a DS Lite + Essentials pack + 1 game + AC adaptor for £120.

The DS can connect to most any router unless you have the firewall really strict (I had this problem with my college wireless).

Also, a thing to keep in mind is that if your wireless router is secured, use WEP and not WPA. DS doesn't support WPA.
