    Re: PS3 is dead (IMO)

And what games are there for the PS3 that is well known?

Upon the Wii release, a lot of the people I know said that they want to get Twilight Princess and they also already knew that the Wii came with Wii Sports.

For the PS3, all I have heard was FFXII, and that was last week. I wasn't even told if it was good or not.

Tsu, you must have been living in a box. Games known for PS3 are:

      -MGS4: Guns of The Patriots
      -Resistance: Fall of Man
      -Devil May Cry 4
      -Final Fantasy XIII
      -Killzone 2
      etc.

So saying that there are no well known games for the PS3 is just dumb.

Too bad only one of them is out, and that we won't see most (or even all) of those for a long, long time.

I do live in a box.

But you see, I've heard about the Wii and its games more often than the PS3 and its games from my friends.

I'm being blocked by my perception, all my friends are talking about the Wii and the games themselves, that I'm lead to believe that no one knows any of the PS3 games.

Apart from the few major franchises ps3 doesn't really have any games i am too intrested in. I always say you have to warrent how many games you are intrested in by the consoles price.

I simply could not find 10 games I am intrested in to warrent it as a buy.

                Re: PS3 is dead (IMO)

If nothing good is coming out until Fall 2007 then why didn't they smooth over manufacturing and get a stock of them and WAIT UNTIL FALL 2007.

I have FIVE GAMES from Wii launch date (Zelda, Sports, Red Steel, Super Monkey Ball, Trauma Center). Four of them are solid, amazing games. One was alright, but not worth how much I paid for it. I bought a sixth game (Elebits) later and I love it. I've ordered my seventh (WarioWare) and from what I've seen, it'll be fantastic. Two more are coming out in the Spring (seriously, people went NUTS when it was rumored that it wouldn't be until the fall. They were like WTF THE FALL THAT'S WAY TOO LONG YOU IDIOTS. And Sony had that in mind all along >_>) and they are Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3.

There have been several games that I'm less interested in but as more information comes out about them, I'll consider their purchase (Cooking Mama Wii, Disaster: Day of Crisis, One Piece Grand Adventure (rofl) Sonic and the Secret Rings). And there are dozens of other titles I haven't even heard of in development to be released in 2007.

They need to buckle down, teach their developers how to program for Cell, and get some high quality games out. As of now, all of their titles could be done the same or better on Xbox 360. Developers see that and go "oh hey it's easier to program for that and it'll get a higher market and I don't need to sell half a million just to cut a profit. I'll go there."

Blitz has a solid point here. Chromer, you list all these titles, and some of them interest me despite never playing their prequels. Devil May Cry has proven to be an amazing franchise. So has Metal Gear Solid. Only played a little of Twin Snakes since I've been busy with Wii and never once played Devil May Cry. So yes, it has maybe three or four titles I'm interested in.

Wii has DOZENS of titles I'm interested in. I've already bought six games. SIX. I've ordered my seventh. Name me six titles people who own PS3 have. Oh, and EXCLUSIVE titles.

Edit: Holy crap I forgot Brawl ><

2007's gonna cost me a lot of money. Already four games in the first half of the year I'm set on purchasing. Ouch.

                  Re: PS3 is dead (IMO)

How can I name six titles when the console just launched? You see, it's the same problem Microsoft had when it first released the 360. There weren't that many stand-out games that warranted people to go out and buy it except for the fact that hey, it's the 360.

Nintendo's console isn't as complex so while they were done with the Wii a long time ago, they had the chance to develop well known franchises from the Gamecube and make titles for the Wii for them. On that list of games, only TP has done well. Sports and the rest were viewed as mediocre and launch-like. Sony, being new to next-gen, has to get their **** together in order to get people to want to buy it, lessening the chances they had to develop better launch titles. Also, the 360 didn't have any good games come out until the season as well (Gears of War, Viva Pinata, etc.) so waiting until next fall seems like a logical thing to do.

Erm didn't the Wii just launch as well, so really unless you can tell me 6 exclusive titles for the PS3 right now, Squeek just owned you. and Xbox360 had many good games before Gears of War.

                      Re: PS3 is dead (IMO)

Uh, Chromey, most reviewers are saying most of the launch games for Wii are amazing and well-done.

You need to read reviews from places that aren't video game websites. You know, from people who aren't sucked into thinking games are all about graphics and physics. People who think games are about having fun.

But hey, since all opinions matter, let's go to GameRankings. And let's go ahead and choose the titles with a decent number of reviews for a nice average.

Here's how to read this. There's game, then number of reviews by gaming websites or whatever, then average user (AKA people like you and I) rating, then overall rating by gaming websites and magazines and etc.

                      Let's start with PS3.

                      1. Resistance: Fall of Man 40 7.8 89.2%
                      2. Fight Night Round 3 20 7.8 84.1%
                      3. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 22 4.5 81.6%
                      4. Call of Duty 3 28 6.6 81.5%
                      5. Need for Speed Carbon 21 5.9 79.9%
                      6. Tony Hawk's Project 8 24 5.1 78.6%
                      7. Madden NFL 07 23 5.3 78.5%
                      8. Ridge Racer 7 28 5.3 78.4%
                      9. Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom 25 4.4 60.1%
                      10. Genji: Days of the Blade 33 3.9 59.1%

                      Now Wii.

                      1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 57 9.2 95.1%
                      2. Madden NFL 07 21 8.0 82.6%
                      3. Trauma Center: Second Opinion 26 8.5 82.2%
                      4. Rayman Raving Rabbids 30 8.1 79.2%
                      5. Wii Sports 43 8.7 76.7%
                      6. Excite Truck 39 8.4 74.5%
                      7. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz 38 8.1 72.1%
                      8. Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam 25 7.2 71.7%
                      9. Call of Duty 3 23 8.4 71.7%
                      10. Red Steel 40 7.9 64.9%

                      Yay averages:

                      PS3:

                      Reviews: 77.1%
                      Users: 5.66

                      Wii:

                      Reviews: 77.07%
                      Users: 8.25

The reviewers say about the same thing. However, the users are drastically different! The average game for PS3 is about a five out of ten. OUCH. The average game for Wii is about an eight out of ten. NOT SO OUCH.

See? I can use numbers and facts to prove points too!

Final point: There are 35 ranked games for Wii on that website. 35 games with at least a single rating. The worst game for Wii is Open Season (three guesses why). There are 19 ranked games for PS3. The worst game is Mobile Suit Gundam.

Worst part is, Open Season is beating Gundam.

Squeek is right. Graphics don't mean crap if the game is not fun.

I find the games on the Wii to be more addictive and fun than the PS3 games.

                          Holy crap.

STOP FOCUSING ON ONLY THE RELEASE GAMES!!

The reason you buy a PS3 is because it's going to be good in the future. The PS3 is only $500 for 20GB of space, that's huge for a gaming console. For a PS2, you had to pay $300 when it was released, and then you had to buy memory cards that held, what, 8MB? As of right now in 2006, these cost $20 each. To get 80MB of memory, you'd need $200, added with $300, making $500. For 20GB of memory, you'd just need $500 TOTAL, with the Blu-Ray thrown in for free, along with something that's stronger than the PS2.

                          Really, what're you people saying?

But you have to keep in mind, that 20 GB harddrives are not very expensive.

Most of the $500 goes toward the parts in the PS3 such as the CPU and Graphics Card, not the hard drive. If I paid $500 for a 20 GB hard drive, I'd go mad.

The Blu-Ray is not free and is in fact, bringing the console down right now. Maybe this won't be happening in the future, but right now, the Blu-Ray is costing them a lot of money and a lot of time.

Launches are very important. Despite what other people say, first impressions are important. When the Wii came out, you were not only able to purchase the Wii, but you would also know a couple games that came out with it on the launch. Or so that was how I felt.

The PS3 on the other hand, all I remember was that $500-$600 price tag and was not able to focus very much at all on the type of games that I might potentially want (such as FF).

I ran around this morning store-to-store looking for a Wii.

                              No place had any.

Lots of them had PS3s though.

The PS3 is definitely not dead, but it's definitely not alive and kicking.

Squeek and Tosh have valid points here, the thing is Im with Squeek becuz I dont see any future games for PS3 that I want. Release games dont make a system, but number of games that people like do.

notice I said "Games that I want", people have options. But it sounds to me like Tosh wants his for the multimedia part and not really fo games.

Once agian I'll ask, Will Sony make it? despite what system is better, the Ps3 is looking dead...
