$600 is a lot, seriously.

If I actually had to pay for my college education, books, gas, rent etc., I would never be able to afford one of these things. $600 for the console, $60 each game, and tax would run me about five paychecks to cover. But if I had to pay for those things I mentioned before, no amount of saving would ever allow me to afford this thing, and our Christmases tend to be about $100-$200 limits.

Besides, even when it does have its "killer apps" (all three of them) 360 and Wii will be so far ahead that nobody will even want one anymore. PS3 has no good games even remotely close to release, whereas Wii has about a dozen right around the corner.

There's a reason it costs $600.

And Blu-Ray isn't the entire reason.

PS3 costs a lot of money, and I will say, if it comes out with a few more good games, it is worth it. Especially for all that tasty technology inside.

However, while it may be worth it, I don't know how the market is going to react, it's selling out very well right now, but I don't see that continuing. I kinda forsee a less pronounced Betamax like decline of the PS3. I'll still buy one because god knows, I need my Japanese RPGs, I can't live off of Nintendo alone. But I don't know if everyone else is that hardcore about it.

Of course it's going to continue selling well.

If any of these three companies put a cardboard box out for $25 and slapped their respective console names on it, it'd sell out.

Thing is, I think the PS3 is really underrated from what I hear about it all of the time. They wouldn't make it that expensive just because they wanted money. They probably spent more money making the dang thing than they get from selling it.

It costs about $800 dollars to make and they are selling it for $600.

Which is insane, but better for the customer.

Seriously, 90% of you guys are drones to whatever is cool to hate currently. The PS3 has some really good points that anyone can play for an hour and see is better than the wii. They update their online downloadables about once a week, they have quite a few fun games (Resistance is incredible) and they actually have ONLINE PLAY for their games. I'm a nintendo fan to be sure, but I'm a fun game fan at heart, and right now the only fun games out for Wii are Twilight Princess, Wii Sports and maybe monkey ball.

Seriously the ps3 has 8 processors, they're going to do some amazing things with it.

And the only fun game out for the PS3 right now is Resistance. And I sure want to buy a PS3 for $600 dollars so a University can steal it during the night, claiming they're going to cure cancer with it.

Fun games are sure to be found on any system, but do I want to pursue the monotony of a company that consistently fails to support its own customers, and dump my bank account on something that has more of a chance at failing right now than succeeding?

I really really really really really really really really hope the PS3 owns the 360 so that the Cell Processor catches on. I think the idea of every processor nearby working together to do stuff is great. I'd love if my roommate's/family members'/neighbors' computers would help my computer run faster while they're idle, and that's what Cell can do. I remember one time they talked about how if everything had Cell, then your PS3 could be working together with your microwave and TV and stereo to load things faster. That'd be awesome.

However, I don't have 600 bucks. If I get anything, I'll get a Wii because it's cheap/non-gamers will play it with me.

PS: As a Blu-Ray player, the PS3 is cheap. Last I checked, every Blu-Ray player I saw was 1k+. =\

Note that I never said I hated the PS3. I just don't think it's a smart buy right now, and it likely won't be at least for another year.
