I want to be a video game designer and I have been playing even before I was a year old. All my life I have looked at a lot of games. I thought a ton of them were awsome, some were ok, and some just sucked. I have always thought of something that would make them better.

This thread is for people to say what in a video game they would fix or what type of game they would like to see or make.

Any ideas found stolen without permission will be owned and publically humiliated by being owned by Tankmen.

If you are a game designer or know how to make games, msg the people who have posted and try to make a deal. You never know. Your idea could become as big as FFR.

Saul is working in his store when he hears a booming voice from above: "Saul, sell your business." He ignores it. It goes on for days. "Saul, sell your business for $3 million." After weeks of this, he relents, sells his store. The voice says ‘Saul, go to Las Vegas." He asks why. "Saul, take the $3 million to Las Vegas." He obeys, goes to a casino. Voice says, "Saul , go to the blackjack table and put it down all on one hand." He hesitates but knows he must. He’s dealt an 18. The dealer has a six showing. "Saul, take a card." What? The dealer has -- "Take a card!" He tells the dealer to hit him. Saul gets an ace. Nineteen. He breathes easy. "Saul, take another card." What? "TAKE ANOTHER CARD!" He asks for another card. It’s another ace. He has twenty. "Saul, take another card," the voice commands. I have twenty! Saul shouts. "TAKE ANOTHER CARD!!" booms the voice. Hit me,Saul says. He gets another ace. Twenty one. The booming voice goes: "un-****ing-believable!"

Good luck with your future career. Seeing as there are thousands of others out there who want to design games some point in their life and chances are you don't have a clue as to what's required to work your way up the ladder, you're going to need the luck.

Just a tip: whatever you're good at that may relate to gaming, practice it. If you're good at writing, review games or write stories. If you're good at art, practice with 3D modeling or get into concept art. If you're good at programming or math, learn a programming language (HTML and CSS aren't really programming languages). Don't take it from me, though--just look at some job offers at a developement site and check out what they really want. Here's a good example:

Learning Japanese also helps.

When you comprehend how many people would love a job in the video game field, you'll realize that it's going to take a ****load of devotion. Me? I want to someday get into cartooning/animation, and I devote more time into my drawings than my schoolwork sometimes, honestly. That and my frame-by-frame animation skills aren't half bad. Oh, and level design in the video game industry is a dream of mine, like a highschool jock's dream of getting into the NFL.

I am taking a computer design course and I am a good arist. I have wanted to do this ever since I was one. I love video games and they are my life. My first main idea is a gun mmorpg. Not the game Gun but an actually shooter mmorpg.

I almost had a job with EA and I think Blizzard. I just need a degree and I had to move to California and be 18.

Are you leaning towards an FPS, a gun MMORPG more like GunZ, or an MMORPG with guns in it?

Let me explain. You choose one type of class like sniper, infantry, heavy artillery, or scout. Then you choose a secondary class, which I am still debating to either add a whole new set or just keep the originals, and create your character based on those classes. Me I would choose, sniper/scout. I would then work my stats in shoulder strength, accuracy, speed, and some points on my rifle.

You choose two weapons. One main and one secondary. I would choose a high-end sniper rifle and a good semi-automatic weapon with zoom function.

You have many things to upgrade and two-three ways to do it. 1. Level, money, and skill points. Leveling up would affect all of you skills and body. Money is used to upgrade your guns and skill points are used to upgrade both.

Your body upgrades include eyes/accuracy, hands/grip, shoulder/recoil, chest/armor, feet+legs/jump+dodge+speed.

Your gun upgrades include, ammo clip, trigger, spring, scope, barrel and recoil.

Your levels include, your weapons, gun smithing, ammo making, and much more.

Uhhh, well I didn't read through the idea and I'm not that sure about the video game making career completely, but:

-Chances are you're going to start at the bottom of the ladder with an obscure company.
-Chances are you're going to start with a lower job like programming and you won't get to directing for awhile.

So good luck making it up that ladder. In order to you're going to need to be especially notable. Devote yourself and you may be.

Not to be a dreamcrusher here, but Tosh and carbo are right. Most people don't have a clue on how the industry works and think that as long as they have a "omg so cool idea ^__^" then they will make the big bucks. Not saying that's you. If you are motivated, lucky, and posess the required knowledge, you may get a job on the low end and work your way up.

And to be compeltely honest, odds are the pay is going to drop as the workers increase. People will do stuff better than you for less pay. I mean, I didn't even really notice it until people started talking about it more and more.

Work as hard as you can in what you want to do and you should be fine. That's generally how stuff works, at least.

How 'bout I put it in a way you'll care about.

Would you rather spend 8 years in high school and college working hard then have 40 years of a job you love to do, or would you rather slack for 8 years and get some crappy ass job you hate, possibly always being in debt and always wondering if it's ever going to stop? I'm sure you'd rather work for 8 years. Just do it. You'll love yourself later.

I will be the best, video games are my life. I don't care how much I make I just wan't to make games. If I could learn how to use flash I would be popping games out like crazy. I am completed devoted. I like quotes and I don't have the software to make a sig. Yes, I do understand the industry.
