After about 1000000000000 tries, I finally beat THUG. =O!
I can't believe it.

I can't believe it.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(
In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.
So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.
Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =OTags: None -

Re: I can't believe it.
The game isn't very hard, except the last challenge. It's stupidly ridiculous. -______-So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

Re: I can't believe it.
Heh, sounds fun.For your last challenge you face Eric where you must hit all of his lines within a set time limit. Because it is considered to a be a frustrating and tiresome goal no matter what the difficulty, players only need to complete the goal once - Any subsequent plays through the game, and when Eric challenges you, you just punch him in the face, knocking him out and catching the tape in one motion.Comment

Re: I can't believe it.
That hard? I beat that game in a rental. I remember that part being frustrating but once you learn the route it shouldn't take that long

Re: I can't believe it.
That whole game is stupidly easy, even on the "sick" difficulty.
All of the Tony Hawk games are stupidly easy. The only hard part is finding gaps without a guide telling you where some of the least descriptive ones are.
The next generation looks to be shaping up to be very challenging though. The Wii game (Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam) is a downhill racing that makes use of the controller. Turning and controls of that nature are made by turning and moving the controller. Tricks are performed using the buttons. The PS3 and Xbox360 version (Tony Hawk Project 8-- because it is the 8th game) seems to be standard THPS play, except it sounds as though they've finally redone the physics engine so that the skating is more realistic. In fact, I was looking into it the other day, and it will actually take skill to land tricks (presumeably in the same way "big drops" were handled in THPS2-- hit X upon landing to get a clean landing). That is my one gripe I've had about the game for so long: the physics are so unrealistic and it makes it difficult to simulate realistic skating (that and they seem to not include sim mode cheat anymore). Also, apparently, they are making the challenges for "sick" mode even harder so that people who are especially skillful in the game will have actual challenges instead of these stupid "get a 200,000 combo lol" objectives.
ps in case you didn't know, I'm pretty into the THPS line.

Re: I can't believe it.
I've been playing THUG 2 alot recently. Only because its the only game that one of my friends isn't borrowing >_> All of the games have been easy, with a few decently hard challenges here and there. Most of them were the ones where balancing took a big factor because you had to hold a trick for a long time, and i suck at that. Anyways, I've beaten THUG2 in about 5 hours on sick getting everything. Nothing special.
Now, I've gone on to designing levels, tags, and level goals. Creating the level goals are a lot of fun to try out becuase there are a lot of different things that you can do with 'em. Nothing really special but i'm having some fun with it. I wish there was a way to get these out to people via xbox live or something, but i guess i'll have to wait till later.Comment

Re: I can't believe it.
The most frustrating part is that you have to grind on telephone wires and other high-up places for a good bit. I kept falling down so I'd have to restart. The time I finished with a couple seconds left I think I fell down from one of the goals near the end once, but that's it. The one part where you have to get ~5 goals in a row while on telephone lines sucks because I'd fall in the middle and there's no way to get back up in time to finish the challenge. =\
Really Afro, have you played the final mission? It's the only hard part.
PS: I love the massive combo/high score challenges, because manuals are so friggin easy to make massive combos with. XDDDDDDSo I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

Yeah.Originally posted by evilbutterflyReally Afro, have you played the final mission? It's the only hard part.
It's really not hard. In fact, when free skating that level I usually take that line anyway just because it's a fun line.
ps I just recently (as in within about a month) finished THAW. Also not challenging. The story mode left a lot to be desired too. Classic mode was excellent I think though. I don't know for sure... I beat class mode within like one day of getting the game back at Christmas.

Re: I can't believe it.
I was big into THPS until THUG. Which is why I only beat THUG1 and not THUG2 or THAW. None of the other THPS are fun either because you can beat those in 30 minutes now. But we've already had this discussion.Last edited by Kenzya; 07-26-2006, 01:14 PM.Comment

Re: I can't believe it.
dam there are still ppl just beatin THUG? wow i thought that was extinct.
to make the game easier, beat the game on sick difficult up until the last level. then a cut scene will occur. instead of takin eric's challenge, your character will bitch slap that *** eric and u get your tape off the hitch! game done, and u get the uber cheats!Kitty's out to kill you <_<...

Re: I can't believe it.
First of all, nice bump.
Second of all, that thing you mentioned about hitting Eric: already mentioned in this thread. And you're wrong, anyway. It's that he does that every time after the first time. I beat the game on sick the first time, so I had to do that objective on sick mode. After that, I never had to do it again.
