WA4 represents a bit of a departure for the series. WA3, although 3D, retained the basic gameplay mechanics of WA1 and WA2. WA4, although built on the same base, eschews tradition for a more modern feel. I'm not done with the game yet, but I'm liking it so far. The thing I'm really having to get used to is the voice acting - no other english WA game has had voice acting until now. It's not that bad, but it's a bit of a shock for characters in a WA game to actually speak. The music, composed by Naruke and three others this time, is still amazingly good. No complaints there. The graphics are great, too. The awesome cinematography seen in WA3 makes a return, as well, although cutscenes are done in a radically different style (anime portraits and split screens).
WA4 is a lot different from WA1-3 and Alter Code F, but it's very good if you're willing to take in something new from the series. I'll make a formal review once I finish playing it.
