RE: XBOX 360 is too expensive....
Don't forget that while the PS3 might trump the 360 technologically, it comes out A YEAR LATER, pretty much putting Sony's next system in the position the X-Box is now: Better system but launched too latet o get the ginourmous library of games. That, and knowing Sony, they're release the first waves of PS3's before they make sure it won't fall apart in 6 months.SIG PICTURES:

And besides, Sony could be playing the Blame Game. By saying that their prices are high now, it will get people's expectations up. Then when it comes out at a lower price, it shocks the consumers with its cheaper price, there by getting more customers.

They could be, just like Microsoft faking shortages. However, this isn't Sony's numbers. This is Merrill Lynch. Analysts. Usually surprisingly accurate. The fact is that Sony may launch their console for 399 dollars. Biting the loss. Trojan Horse for Blu-ray technology. You do understand that people expect stand alone next-gen 'DVD players' to cost around $1,000? That's just an INSANE value to the customer. So you're talking about how Xbox is going to cost less to produce, and cost less. However, shouldn't we be thinking about value? If the PS3 even launches for 499 it seems like it'd be a MUCH better value.Originally posted by ChromerAnd besides, Sony could be playing the Blame Game. And, I hear you Squeek. I'm sick of people ignoring the Revolution, but I think in part it's because people don't know enough about it. Especially to analyze the cost.I'll trade you this delicious doorstop for your crummy old danish.

Tales of Symphonia is one of the absolute best current-gen titles overall. Go back to playing stupid Korean MMOs.
Anyway, cost is not an issue for me. I have scads of money. The issue with me is the actual games.Comment

However, I am guessing that out of all of the next-gen consoles, Nintendo's will be the cheapest. I think Nintendo will keep their console features to games, and not include a lot of the unnecessary add-ons that seem to be present in the other consoles such as media players, and such. While these extras may be relatively small in cost compared to the specs listed, they can add up.
Plus, previous Nintendo console releases always were no-frills, usually only having what one needs to play games, rather than mp3 players or DVD players, and such. Also, they were always the lowest-priced consoles out of the generation.

RE: Re: RE: XBOX 360 is too expensive....
I guarantee Nintendo's release price is ~$200. I don't even care as long as the price of the console with a game is less than $1,000. That's the limit on my credit card that I will be using at 6AM on the day it is released.
Looks like I'm skipping all of my classes for that whole week.

The Revolution looks to be Nintendo officially abandoning all common sense, if you want my personal opinion. They've decided that gimmicks are their thing, I guess, which pisses me right the hell off. Everything about the Revolution looked fantastic to me until they revealed it's UTTERLY STUPID controller.

Because no one takes Nintendo seriously anymore. Nintendo is kind of like what the Green party is to government parties. The only people who are in the Green party are fanatics, just as the only people who like Nintendo are fanatics.Originally posted by MrESqueekWhy.

Which isnt necessarily a bad thing. Like Laharl pointed out, Nintendo knows there is no possible way they can compete which gives them the option of being more liberal when it comes to game design. It gives them the option of thinking outside the box.Comment

Nintendo's approach to games is as such:
"We're gonna make a console like we always have: One that plays games."
While on the other hand, Sony and Microsoft are trying to make their consoles like cellphones. They're trying to cram as many totally unecessary things in their consoles to beef up the price as humanly possible.
Nintendo's approach is to mix things up a little and, you know, TRY SOMETHING NEW. Just improving graphics is not enough. Even the head of the company said so. You could do that, but over time, it'll just be the same thing over and over again. And you'd lose interest among your fanbase.
And, unfortunately for you, your OPINION on the controller is yours and yours alone. I and many others think it has the potential to be the greatest thing to happen to the video game industry.
Well, I guess twice is multiple. 'Cuz nobody beats a game more than once after unlocking all the cool stuff you get after beating it the first time, right?Originally posted by ToshXDude, it was a joke, I was just going after Squeek for having beat ToS multiple times and having asked why no one likes the Revolution.
I highly doubt the founders of modern-day videogaming as we know it think "we have no chance". The creation of Nintendo lead to the creation of the gaming branch in Sony to put forth the PS1. This lead to Microsoft taking interest in the business and joining the game as well. The foundation is and will always be Nintendo. They cater to the needs of gamers the best of the three like they always have.Originally posted by jewpinthethirdNintendo knows there is no possible way they can compete which gives them the option of being more liberal when it comes to game design. Personally, I don't know about you guys, but continuously playing the same game with a new title, new graphics, and a new storyline over and over again on a new console is going to get old soon. It really got set off when they 3-D'd everything, but there's nothing more you can do now. That's why Nintendo is adding yet another element to gaming. You won't have to just sit in a chair with a controller in your two hands pushing buttons with your thumbs. No. They're gonna change it and we're gonna love it.
We hope.
