    modding for imports

I want to be able to mod my PS2 in order to be able to play imported games, namely DDR games and those that never reach the states.

Does anyone have suggestions for where to get equipment needed, instructions, etc.?

I'm not afraid to go into the machine and solder a bit, but i'd prefer the easiest, cheapest, best way possible.

you can get an external mod chip [sort of like a memory card] anywhere online, just google it. they only work for some models of ps2 so do your research. there are also cd's that supposedly unlock it, but i think its only for ps1.

      RE: modding for imports

The Slide-Card is an easy and affordable way to play your PS2 CD-R or DVD-R backups or original import games. It is a completely "never seen before" solution and alternative to a ModChip for PlayStation2.

With the Slide-Card you no longer have to install a ModChip to be able to play your backups or original import games. You do not even have to open the console, therefore your warranty stays intact. Normally when installing a backup solution, you have to open your console, and "split" the warranty sticker on the back. Thats all history now...

The Slide-Card does not make any changes to the internal system of your PlayStation2. So when using the Slide-Card your PlayStation2 is operating completely normal. Playing PS2 and PS1 original games as it should, and playing DVD movies as it should. No difference!

Or ya know, you could just buy an Internation PS2, since it's alot safer then using a mod chip. along with that fact that its more trust worth as well.

It's one of the newer, slimmed down models... scph-70012 cb/97003. I'd like to avoid buying a whole new system for something that can be worked around.

You know, you could opt out for a switch Disk method, I think those work for Imports, but yeh, I see how buying a new sys is redundent. Oh by the way, try http://www.modchip.ca there pretty good, my friend got his Swap Disk kit from them, and I got my Mod Chip/Gameshar combo from them. Aside from that, just google it.
