I wasn't flaming at all, I was explaining a point. dur.

So, if you want me to talk about it...

Nintendo Revolution looks exactly like the PS3 and Xbox2. It's a new system, am I rite? I don't expect anything over-extrordinary from any of them. And of course the money making games will appear on it such as Mario and Zelda.. I think we've basically hit the top of the mountain on gaming systems.. We already basically know what to expect..

there's one feature the revolution needs to have to have my vote as the most godly system ever created- interactivity with the DS. Think about it- the DS could connect through the revolution's internet connection so you could play DS games online worldwide with anyone else who's connected to their revolution. And the DS can also wirelessly download information from the revolution for minigames or maps and the like.

I wonder what the media format will be though. The mini discs were pretty nice because the load times were really quick for most games but they store less data. A mini-disc type format won't work in the next round of consoles.

Heh, can someone tell me how the heck my last post had all of the previous quotes on it ? Sorry about that.... and now on to the topic. How the heck can we know what the Revolution will be like? Hopefully Nintendo will show something at this year's E3.

What are you talking about? Most people have trouble with the control scheme in Metroid. That's where most of the "control sucks" talk is coming from. It's the reason why I said the controls suck.
Well, I am quite happy with the controls, and I guess that is all that really matters.

I'd also like to state that neither the DS nor the PSP is innovative. Whether or not the games for the systems are innovative should be the argument. I don't care how sleek or how many hours, I care about how fun.
May I ask, what in the fucking hell do you consider innovative.

If you don't think a touch screen, dual screens, a built in microphone, and N64 graphics on a HANDHELD system is innovative then I don't know what is wrong with you.

Anyway, back on topic, I think this could be a possible revolution controller, or at least similar to this.

            http://www.gamestron.com/esp5gl.html
Last statement: But thats just it. N64 graphics on a handheld. Now to some people this might sound like the greatest thing in the world, but to people who crave good graphics, 64-bit looking games on a handheld just can't cut it. Oh and the controls do suck, but this is because I have borrowed SM 64 from my friend.

              No innovation in Revolution?

From what I've read, Gyroscopic technology is being incorporated into the console. Along with this is the high-frequency blue laser on DVD (mini?) discs and, of course, all the upgraded processor speeds, graphics, sound, and everything else.

From what I know, the DS already has wireless communication, voice-recognition, and chat (A FIRST FOR A GAMING SYSTEM. THIS IS WHY THIS IS ORIGINAL) along with the Touch Screen and all the other stuff.

However, Iwata also stressed that Nintendo doesn't see hardware innovation as unnecessary. "We at Nintendo aren't brushing off the need for high technology, but we think that there are other ways of taking advantage of it," commented Iwata. "The Nintendo DS's double screen or touch-sensitive panel isn't particularly new, but there weren't any other companies that thought of using them in video game machines."
You can't just tell me that nothing new is going into consoles these days because that's an outright lie. From NES to SNES, the difference all game from graphics and sound, but it was a major difference. From SNES to N64, it was all about graphics and sound again. This time, though, they introduce the best controller ever made and many features for it: Rumble Pak, Tilt Pak, etc. Wireless controllers make their appearance at this time. However, once Nintendo got to Gamecube, they realized that people like you wanted more. So, they give you a tiny cube that plays mini-DVD discs very well. Hardly ever a load screen, amazing detail, you name it. The difference from N64 to GCN was the change from cartridges to discs and the removal of expansion slots from the controller. They also give you a 1st party wireless controller and the ability to play GBA games on your TV.

But, since this is all about the next Nintendo console, I did some research on what will be different as was quoted from people that would actually know, such as the people working on it.

The young executive spends much of the interview reiterating past statements regarding the unimportance of increasing technical specifications in the new systems.

[Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo Co. Ltd.]
...if the next generation of consoles only represents beefed-up technology, there will not be much of a future.
Iwata also talks about Nintendo's next console, giving it a tentative name for the first time:

The abilities of GCNext will be different from what you have seen from consoles in the past. What Nintendo is currently discussing is not about state-of-the-art technology for enhancing processing power. But what I, Miyamoto, and Mr. Takeda [engineering leader Genyo Takeda] are discussing is what should be done to entertain people in a new way; and in order to achieve this, what functionality must be added to our current technology.
Iwata explained that the company is also looking into creating new ways of gameplay on existing consoles. The president revealed that a Mario Party sequel that doesn't require the use of controllers is currently under development, although no details were discussed during the conference. "The Mario Party series was known to have a low learning curve, but that still didn't mean that every member of a family could enjoy the game. So, we're going to take on a new challenge, and make the game playable for even people that can’t handle the controllers," commented Iwata.
Iwata also revealed that Nintendo's next-generation game console is currently in development under the project code name "Revolution." The only specific detail he did divulge is that the machine will be able to hook up to a PC monitor as well as to a traditional TV. Iwata did hint that the machine will be taking a different path than that of Microsoft's Xbox Next and Sony's PlayStation 3. "We're thinking of an innovative idea for our next-generation console that's completely different from consoles in the past," commented Iwata. "It will be clearly distinct from the other next-generation consoles that competing companies will develop. What's important isn't a next-generation technology, but a next-generation way in playing games." The Revolution will be unveiled at next year's E3 expo in Los Angeles.
              And, for fun:

Japanese Patent Office, Nintendo registered two names--"Manebito: Camera" and "Ningen Copy: Manebito." In English, the two names translate into "Impersonator: Camera" and "Human Copy: Impersonator." Just as interesting are the logos (pictured) that were registered with the trademarks. Manebito: Camera shows a humanlike figure taking a pose with a device that looks like a camera. On the Ningen Copy: Manebito logo, two human figures are facing each other, with one taking a photo of the other with the device. The pictures led many sites to immediately jump to the conclusion that Nintendo was bringing out its own EyeToy-like machine for the GameCube.
I have read articles about how Nintendo is on-hold with their new console until ATI or NVidia manage to release a working 512mb video card.

Yea, that must be it. I mean, when I see video games, I only see Nintendo. All other games suck and need to be burned.

                  [/sarcasm]

I'm not a "fanboy". I'm not "disgruntled". When I was making my choice for the next console to go into after N64, I actually did my research on the PS2, GCN, and XBOX. I eliminated PS2 since so many people already had one and I could just borrow theirs. I narrowed it down to whether I would like Halo or SSBM more. Obviously, I made a smart decision. Xbox has yet to put out a decent title, and I already have 35 Gamecube games; 32 of which I consider amazing games.

I'm not bitter over the fact that people don't consider Nintendo "teh gr8st thng evar zomg!!!", I'm bitter over the fact that people talk about it in terms of stereotypes with no basis of information. You cannot tell me that Nintendo doesn't care about innovative production because, as a matter of fact, this is their PRIMARY FOCUS.

ALSO, PC games are huge on my list of games as well. I still consider the PC the best, but it is not a console, so I cannot have it beat GCN.

Captain Obvious: I smell a Sony fanboy. Wait, there's Chromer!

And I still don't like PSP's idea of using UMDs. If I want to watch a movie while traveling , a DVD player looks much better. I seriously wouldn't like to watch on such a small screen.

Actually, Squeek, I think what Nntendo is aiming for is "oldschool" gaming. Mario and Zelda comes to mind. And even then, they want young gamers to grow up playing and having Nintendo games and consoles. We can't deny Mario and Zelda aren't household names. Obviously, the flaw is Nintendo's choice of games. Hopefully, we see games such as Grand Theft Auto (and as much as I despise such games, GTA is one of the most selling games, currently, so I'd guess it's a good decision for Nintendo to finally add those kind games) on Nintendo's next console.

As much as anyone hates online play or not, it can only help Nintendo. This is what many gamecube owners have been wishing for. Hopefully Nintendo sees that. As I can see, this is why XBox owners like XBox, because they can play online. Sure, a PC can definitely do this better, but in general I don't think it will hurt.

Note: I didn't read previous posts.

You can play Gamecube online with other people.

You need a broadband adaptor and a certain program that I don't actually know about.

A friend of mine in England does it all the time. He says it's awesome.

Nintendo news, analysis & musings since 1996

I know... But the hardware and software is obviously third-party.

The site I posted above mentions Gamecube being online. I just forgot to mention this

Edit: my point is, even though GCN has the capability to play online, it is not supported by Nintendo, so not too many people know about it.
