    New HL Mod: Zombie Panic

    Between this and NS, you should be able to hold out until HL2 comes out...

    Zombie Panic


    Summary:
    When you join a server, and the round starts, you will notice all of the players but one join the Survivors team, which is the humans. The remaining player joins the Zombie team. The goal of the zombie is to kill all of the humans off. The humans' goal, of course, is to stay alive as long as possible.

    If a human is killed, he respawns as a Zombie on the Zombie team. Soon, more and more humans have joined the ranks of the zombies, until there is only one human left, facing all of the zombies alone. When the last human dies, the round is over. There's a certain sense of satisfaction in rending the foolish human who failed to protect you while you were alive limb from limb...

    It is possible however, for Humans to survive. Zombies have a reinforcement counter, which decreases everytime a zombie is killed. A reinforcement is added for every human a zombie kills. Once the Counter hits zero, and the remaining zombies are destroyed, the round is over. Succesfully surviving however, is harder than it sounds. Both teams must work as a team to succeed. You'll find it much easier, and a whole lot more fun when you work together.

    Zombies may seem to die often, but they won't give up. They just keep respawning over and over until your pistol runs out of bullets, your back is to the wall, and there is no escape. As the undead ranks swell with the freshly dead, the last few humans will find their superior weaponry small compensation for the hordes of zombies that close in.
    To be perfectly honest, I haven't been able to play it yet, but from everyone I've heard who has played it, it's a very fun game.

    I heard about this on the NS forums. Though I was just reading about it before it was released. I think I'll go download this now.

          DL'd. It's alright. It has a few major problems before it can be really fun though. First of all, holy fuck are the servers laaaaaaaaggggggyyyyyyyy. They're all but unplayable- it wasn't uncommon for everybody in a game to be hitting 500 ping or more. Even if you do find a good server, the problem is that the humans rarely win. Zombies are too fast, too powerful, and humans have so little ammo it's unfair. I mean, you start off with a crowbar, a handgun, and 7 bullets. THAT'S IT. Extra ammo is flatly nonexistant, and the only other weapons are a shotgun (also limited in ammo, comes with 5 shots) and dynamite. Plus, a human going toe to toe with a zombie and only wielding a crowbar will lose.
