    The Talos Principle

Haven't seen much love at all anywhere for this fantastic game, so I figured I would advertise here and discuss with any people that have played it / are currently playing it.

Can buy it / watch trailer here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/257510/

It's a first person puzzle game with a philosophical story.

Hard to compare it to anything on the market other than Portal 2, though the style of the puzzles and the world is very different than portal 2.

It's also much longer (I would guess 20-40 hours, depending on skill and what % you complete, but I haven't finished it yet).

The puzzles range from straight forward to mind-fuck level of difficulty (some much harder than anything I've ever seen in a commercial puzzle game). Some levels are very cerebral, others involve planning, others might trick you and mislead you while others require some timing and precise movement. Some of the hardest levels even seem impossible at first and require thinking outside the box and rules you've been presented with thus far.

Overall I'd say it's a fucking awesome game and anyone interested should definitely pick it up. Don't let the price deter you.

I'm enjoying it, it looks and handles amazing, and it kind of reminds me of portal with a little bit of myst thrown in.

I watched Day[9] play a bit of this. Game looks fantastic and I REALLY want to buy it but $40 is too much for my poor wallet right now

          I'm OReach on steam.

It is a bit expensive, but if you have the funds I wouldn't worry about the price. It's easily worth what they're selling it for, and as I said, it has a solid number of gameplay hours attached. I still can't figure out some of the star puzzles and will have to come back to them, not to mention the grey piece puzzles in the star worlds.

Yeah, I really like the puzzle design that I've seen so far. That, and the environments being fucking beautiful really makes me want to play it. I'll probably cave in and get it this weekend out of boredom :P

Welp, caved and bought it yesterday morning and spent allllll day playing it haha. Here's a screenshot to show my progress. Pretty easy to tell how far in you are based on the block combinations and other things you have collected. Hidden behind a spoiler just in case people don't want to see, I don't think it really spoils anything but may as well be safe.

                  Re: The Talos Principle

Jesus you got far in one day lmao.

I haven't had a ton of time to play it so I've been playing it an hour here and there. I have Floor 4 completed, finishing up the last 10 puzzles for floor 5 I think. I have 3 greys from world 1 and 8 stars (Dumb dumb mine or whatever had me fucking floored for awhile before I realized the trickery), for a total of 18.

Will probably try to get 20 before finishing the tower or whatever else is going to happen in the game, but getting all 30 stars will be supremely difficult without a guide. I haven't used one yet but ...for some of them, I know I'll be able to solve them given some time because I have an idea as to what the solution is, but, A3 being an example, I don't even know where the star is.

I think I broke the game on a puzzle in C4 though (Throne room). *minor spoilers* , I was completely lost as to how to get into the middle section because I couldn't get the laser to hit the switch regardless of where I placed it, so after getting the Star I decided to see if you could jump across the wall to get in there, and you can't...but the kicker is you can walk across forcefields if they're up, so you can jump onto the ledge, walk across the forcefield and then jump into the middle chamber. The puzzle is easily solvable from there and I have no idea if this was intended or I missed out on some obvious solution and made things 10x more complicated. Either way, it was awesome.

Also, Easter eggs anyone? I've found a few really weird places in the game. Underwater cavern, fell through the ground into a shaking room, found a gallery of developer pictures...cool shit. Make sure you explore everything.

I was kind of disappointed when I realized you could bounce a laser off there but then it didn't have any utility for a puzzle. Was really hoping it would be involved in getting a star or something.

                        Still cool, though.

Found a minecraft sword today. Onto the last world of area C. Got 20 stars though, so working on the second star world first.

I'll definitely get it in a few years when it's cheaper.

For reference I just played Assassin's Creed 2 so that should give you an idea of how long I'm willing to wait to get a good game cheaply :P

Getting closer and closer to beating it. Just finished the second star world, got three pieces left before I can do level 5 and then comes the long grind of trying to find the remaining 10 stars XD

Also, I was stuck for a while on Up Close and Jammed. And then I figured this out Watch at your own discretion. I wouldn't say it's a spoiler since it doesn't show you the intended way to beat it, but up to you
