i was pretty active back in 2007-8 in the state tournament scene in the westchester ny area but there was a pretty serious skill gap between pc/cort and the 4-6th place players where i usually sat at

when i went to uni i played a lot against cactuar/scar/king and my god cactuar was something else

man those were some good times

also lol comparing brawl to melee is like comparing hungry hungry hippos to chess

It was in Buffalo, NY back in 2006, somewhere near the UB campus. basically 2006-2008 was my peak and I never really got any better because I had no one that could provide a challenge lol. But yeah those days were great!

I was pretty impressed what I saw all those Snakes sliding across the map shooting mortars at my first legit Brawl tournament haha. Never had anyone to play with or theorycraft with so I would just practice by myself for a few hours a day. Meta/Diddy used correctly is also hella scary.

Most "good" Brawl tourneys nowadays have modded Wii for on tripping at the very least, which makes it less about ****** luck lol.

Anyways pretty hype for this game, I don't think it could be bad no matter what they do~

I wish people would just stop arguing about how good melee and brawl were and just move on to talking about the new game. Its game mechanics look similar to brawl but a lot less slow and with a good bit less lag time after moves, which means you don't have to rely so much on your safe moves and can actually use more moves in more situations. It looks to be shaping up to be a very good and fun game, and all the newcomers they've shown so far will be very unique an interesting, especially Megaman.

The game will be highly hyped using the Smash Bros. Dojo like they did in brawl. Just go to smashbros.com and clear your cache if you still see the brawl version of it.

Also, from the info. so far, I have thrown together what I think the roster is likely to be.

Brawl's Roster
-Lucario and Snake
+Villager, Megaman, Wii Fit Trainer, Palutena, Ridley, Mewtwo, Some new 3rd party character, and Some Fire Emblem newcomer.

Of course, I could be wrong.

I would like to see Ridley too but my hopes aren't too high for him being playable. If he does, he would probably be scaled down... a lot but it would be cool if he'd be playable. If not him, then some of the hunters from MPH or MP3: Corruption maybe.

Time for award winning post JKJK. Anywho I too used to be on the brawl hate train going back and thinking "Man this game is shit shit shit" but then I kind of realized something.
1. Melee is a lot more competetive. Chances are you are turning items off and will have some sort of fit if it isn't a one on one match without stock. The most fun you can have in this game is to treat it as competetively as possible I would think. I know I didn't want to play any other mode and would grind in for tidious hours until I became good and would watch countless montage videos of M2k and Neo and other shit.
2. Brawl isn't bad not in any sense of the word, but treat it like mario party. Its a game where you get a bunch of you and your friends together and you just decide to play for the fuck of it. You can still be good but it is nowhere as competetive and has alot more of the "fun with family and friends" kind of vibe that nintendo really had going for it.

Chances are though for the times Brawl might have had a bit more people playing at the time, but melee was clearly the longer lived game.

edit: Also a bigger reason for your disappointment is the fact that the hype centralized around brawl was ALOT greater than this. I would remember people would talk about the trailer as if it were the next coming of jesus. And then when the game came out it was like (...) with the less hype behind this smash people are bound to be less disappointed.

Geno and Mega Man have a high probability. Mega Man is in, so it's between Isaac and Geno having a chance in the game.. Read the rumor to see what I'm talking about lol
