I don't mind Steam, but there's a large cult of people who think it's a replacement for real gaming, and they're just horrendous to interact with.

Re: Why is the First Person Genre so popular?
So are you trying to say that people aren't simpleminded robots that like the same thing over and over? Life in it's self is monotony. There's nothing else about it. Asking things like "why do people like FPSes?" and arguing "it's repetitive and they suck balls because linear gameplay blah blah my fandom is better than yours" etc. is counterproductive against pretty much everything.
I guess my point is, stop asking these dumb questions over and over about this and that pertaining to arguments about repetition. Unless you guys agree with my statement that you're all repetitive.Comment

Fine, I'll pretend everything is objectively equal all the time in every way minus opinion, for the sake of not starting an argument with someone who doesn't understand why Bioshock Infinite isn't a substitute for Skyward Sword or Mirror's Edge.
Of course, it's not like Steam isn't capable of having god-tier games, they've just made the decision not to so far. Or rather, they have to work with what PC devs give them, which hasn't been much.

Re: Why is the First Person Genre so popular?
They're hugely acccessible. You run around and spam a shoot button. Pretty simple for most people to understand. It doesn't take a lot of effort to just pick-up-and-play.
Furthermore, FPS games tend to be the frontrunners/prime candidates for the newest and greatest graphics/visuals -- major selling points.
Also, it's just fun to shoot shit.
It's also very easy to make a FPS game multiplayer based on its very nature in the game medium -- another big selling point.Comment

Why so ass-pained about steam because it has more selection @ a cheaper price than any console market. If you call yourself a PC gamer and don't have steam, you're a huge ******."STEAM. STEAM. STEAM. Then again you might be one of those people who still defend the console as a viable way to play games. Sorry, That excuse might have ran when a gaming PC cost 1500+ USD, but thats not the case anymore. With the right knowledge and sales on the right products, you can easily build a Gaming PC capable of running any game on the market for under $500.
Also, Nice Comic-Sans.

Not saying that the graphics aren't that much better on a computer which wouldn't cost that much less than a console.Last edited by dragon890x; 04-27-2013, 02:27 PM.Comment

Re: Why is the First Person Genre so popular?
I'm honestly curious what you think is a god tier game. I'm pretty sure Steam has most AAA titles besides a few notable ones from EA which are on Origin.Fine, I'll pretend everything is objectively equal all the time in every way minus opinion, for the sake of not starting an argument with someone who doesn't understand why Bioshock Infinite isn't a substitute for Skyward Sword or Mirror's Edge.

Also Steam has a HUGE selection of Indie games and they're really good with supporting the Indie market if you're into that kind of thing.

Re: Why is the First Person Genre so popular?
Can we please not devolve this thread into another fucking console-vs-pc real-gamers argument? It makes no damned sense to argue about what "real" gamers are.
Consoles have great games, PC's have great games, Steam has great games, etc. There's also a lot of shit in each category.
You'll find hits and misses errwhere.Comment
