This was in Rushy's Kongregate tournament a few months ago. I just tried it once and got 276. This was the score I submitted to the tournament. I lost that round to Emerald with 390 .
Got 174 on the first try. I can understand why people fail epically at the game, though.
If you want to get 85+, either keep the spacebar pressed or do not press it at all. Use your peripheral vision to see whether you need to press it or not. It's only after a while that that game actually requires you to give it quick feedback.
The same applies to every game, but you shouldn't give a game more feedback than it needs if you want to keep your concentration.
