I don't think there is a thread for this game yet, so here it goes.
Black Prophecy is a Sci-Fi space-flight-shooter MMO RPG, and it's Free-to-Play.
While most F2Ps border on demented retardation and use overused gimmicks, Black Prophecy seems somewhat well-polished and fairly unique.
What really makes this game stand out from other F2P MMO's is that Black Prophecy has ~cutscenes~. However, they aren't particularly fancy. It seems like the artists haven't quite mastered what explosions look like, and half the time characters seem to skip dialogue as they don't audibly say everything the subtitles claim they are saying. So be prepared to read if you want to get into the story.
Which leads me to another thing that makes this game stand out, its story.
The story is actually quite good. There are a few bits that seem like a stretch but for the most part it seems like what's going on in the game is a plausible future for humanity.
Story in a nutshell: (No spoilers)
Humans master faster than light travel, enabling them to explore, plunder, and even colonize other star systems. However among these space-faring travels, wars naturally break out because space is a dull, boring, mostly empty void and lets face it exploding starships and lasers going pew pew pew are cool. One of the notable benefits of war is the leaps in technology made, and eventually two factions of humans arise from this. The Tyi, which are basically cyborgs. And the Genides, which are genetically enhanced and maybe a little nip-tuck and penis enlargement. Regular humans still exist at this point, but they are basically either 2nd class citizens or part of the piracy group known as the Jadd Baren. Then some crazy shit happens and now the Tyi and Genides are at eachother's throats in a war you naturally somehow become involved in.
Some free-to-plays let you customize the color of your character's clothes, some free-to-plays have a set number of character presets to choose from with no room for customization. Black Prophecy's character creation screen is almost advanced enough to rival Mass Effect's. Which is great because it enables this kind of creativity:

That is a face that will haunt my dreams for at least 3 weeks.
The flying in this game actually kind of annoys me due to it's complete and utter lack of realistic flying physics. A body in motion is supposed to stay in motion until acted upon by an outside force, but when you let go of the throttle your ship slows down. It actually makes the flying seem clunky and unintuitive because of that. It's not terrible, but a far cry from being as awesome as it could be.
Game controllers are supported! It makes the flying seem less shitty.
Using a Logitech USB XBOX 360-style controller with no issues so far.
The game is somewhat resource intensive, I occasionally get FPS drops on a system with a FX 4100 quadcore 4.4 ghz and a overclocked ATI 6750. But that's with all the graphics settings on 'high'. However, that CPU/GPU processing time isn't being completely wasted since the game is actually quite pretty:
Overall, I'd say this game is at least worth checking out. It is free, after all.
