Komachi yawned. "So is that it, then? If Sakuya was really the one responsible, are we done here? I'd like to back to my boat and take a nap, if you don't mi-ouch!"
Siki smacked Komachi in the head with her tag while Aya responded. "Well, I'm not about to end the investigation here. We have no solid proof Sakuya was the only one responsible, or even if she WAS responsible. I'd like to do a little more research before I call this case closed."
The collective exasperated groan was loud. Aya was about to snap at the nearest person when a violent wave of energy swept over the whole shrine, sending many into a panic.
Ran was noticably frightened. "Master, what is going on? What should I do?"
"This is an incredibly powerful burst of magic energy. I don't know what its intended effects are, Ran, but you should resist them as best as you can."
"But Master, if I do not know what it is going to, how can I resist it?"
Yukari frowned. "Why do you need to know what is it going to do? You're more than good enough to deal with it regardless of what-"
"Kyaaaaaaaaaa!"
Youmu fell to the ground, seemingly ready to vomit. Yukari pointed at her while looking back at Ran. "Okay, that's what it does. Can you deal with it now?"
Ran looked away, hiding her annoyance. "Yes, Mistress, and thank you."
Meanwhile, Marisa had run over to where Youmu was shaking on the ground to check up on her. "Hey, Youmu, are you doing oka-ACK!" She fell over as well.
The wave passed, and the two very angry victims were left looking rounder than they had not five minutes ago - along with a third, much quieter victim.
Yuka Kazami looked down at her body with shock. "Oh my, look at this. I am more than able to appreciate the blooming of new life, but this is a bit much even for me..."
Alice was the closest one to Yuka, so she decided to help out. "Will you be okay?"
"I will be all right, there's very little that can knock me for a loop. I think I just need to head home. Thank you for your concern, doll-maker."
"Hey, don't mention it. Us PC-98 types need to stick together, after all. Make sure you get home safely."
Yuka walked off, never in any particular rush to go anywhere, but still slightly slower than normal. Alice sighed a little, then turned back around to pay attention to the other two victims, both of which were making quite a bit more of a fuss.
"Son of a fucking bitch! You've got to be shitting me! How the hell could this happen to me?"
Reimu's attempts to placate her friend were largely in vain, as Marisa continued her stream of obscenities. "Marisa, please, calm down. Come with me inside. I'll make you some tea and then you can take a nap or something."
"Fuck that! I'm gonna kill whoever did these to me! Hey, let me go!"
As Reimu dragged Marisa away, Youmu was left to vent her anger elsewhere. "I knew it! I knew that bitch was up to no good! Let me at her! I'll cut her into so many pieces she'll-"
Remilia grabbed Youmu by the collar and yanked so that their noses were touching. Her tone sent shivers down Youmu's spine. "Did you not hear me earlier? I said that you will do no such thing to Sakuya. Now settle down or I will abort your kid, and then I will abort you."
Aya interjected. "Besides, it is impossible for Sakuya to be responsible for this. I've had a protection field device in my pocket that I picked up from Kourindou this whole time. It's amazing what that guy has in stock, never mind that it exists at all. Anyway, the field this thing generates is large enough to cover everyone here. No one on the outside can magically interfere with the goings-on inside."
Remi smiled. "You see? Your misery isn't Sakuya's fault. Now run along home and wallow in misery with your dummy ghost mistress before I do something you'll regret. The grown-ups have more work to do."
Youmu cried as she followed the path her mistress took earlier. "Wah, Lady Yuyuko, wait for me!"
