From the town perspective, it doesnt matter who does it if someone does it, because the result is random. So lets just not do it.

it might matter if the winner gets something for just themselves

the result might be random but giving a potential wolf something random vs giving myself something random I'll choose myself

you can't really unless something like voting for players that decide to play it? which seems a bit dumb when the thing you won is actually helpful. But then you've got what happened with antori, rushing to do something with no care for potential negative effects.

I'm basing part of this on things i remember when playing lTWG xiz games. crazy shit happened like we killed the timer or something.

well, we simply didn't get the timer of how much longer we had in each phase and just listened to xiz tell us when time was up.
