Re: TWG 187: Senpai [Game Thread]
Calling sunfan a tool was just for fun/memes, don't pay attention to it.sunfan isn't being a tool, it's in OP:
in previous mystery/anon games, there were roles that let you kill based on finding out other role names, and roles that were looking for specific roles etc. this early is never a good idea to massclaim because we don't know mechanics, or whether the mass claim leads to a mass grave
Of course claiming is pretty bad, but speculating about others could lead to interesting stuff. And if we choose -not- to do it, we have to live with the fact that wolfchat may be a pretty different story.Forgot where I put my old sig lolComment

Well I will be completely useless in terms of any attempt to use chosen names as reads. i am extremely not an anime person.Comment

Re: TWG 187: Senpai [Game Thread]
speculating is fine, but its important not to get too dragged into it. And you dont want to speculate just enough that you dont know whats going on, but know a towny is dead because of it. I think its very easy to get lost in the speculation so much that you tunnel too hard into it instead of reading the player.Calling sunfan a tool was just for fun/memes, don't pay attention to it.

I'll say this, at least.
Based on Haku's actions and stuff, I am 99% sure of who he might have picked, and he doesn't look scummy at -all- from it.
Feel free to blatantly ignore this from the time being.Forgot where I put my old sig lolComment

Re: TWG 187: Senpai [Game Thread]
I mean, there was possibly a world where we insta'd antori before he even had a chance to log in and address anything. Of course, his addressing of it just makes me even more sure we ought to lynch antori, but still.Comment

i also think guessing alignment based on character choice is a VERY dangerous way to go, and i would not do it.Comment

Re: TWG 187: Senpai [Game Thread]
that sounds like alot of lynching and i happen to not like thatAlso let's clarify something: Is it ok to suspect which characters people have picked? I know sunfan is a huge tool and decided it was bad to hardclaim our waifus/husbandos, but this would make the game simply not fun.
I have a hunch for a few people there, and given that my role is very much well known, combined with the flips we're having, I am 99% sure all the roles are relevant to the chosen characters.
So we could figure out who everyone might have picked and based our investigation on it at least partially. I understand if you guys decide it's not fair at all to play this way, but the possibility of using it far too game-changing to avoid at least discussing it.

there's still potential for important information from other players who haven't checked in yet. as an incredibly base example, you can have a cop with a red check out there in people who haven't checked in. lynch is probably all but set in stone, but leaving everyone's opinion in the dark just starves us of potential info tbh

Re: TWG 187: Senpai [Game Thread]
Not more dangerous than all of the other speculation we do anyway. Unless it's a host announcement coming from a power role, nothing is surefire.
The only dangerous thing is tunnel vision. I think that if we could guess people's characters and had a strong case against them in the regular interactions, it would and should rightfully weight in.Forgot where I put my old sig lolComment

Re: TWG 187: Senpai [Game Thread]
Given that Xiz needed people to commit to characters in advance, and implied he would be structuring at least theming around the characters, it sounds like you are wanting to opt into a separate wifom for every single player. Also let's clarify something: Is it ok to suspect which characters people have picked? I know sunfan is a huge tool and decided it was bad to hardclaim our waifus/husbandos, but this would make the game simply not fun.

Thoughts?
Did their pick their favourite, from which we can divine their role?
Did they pick something they thought would get them town/wolf/3p/pr?
Did they pick something unlike what anybody knew about them?
What if 10 people all put in characters that would have made sense to be scum? What if only 3 or 4 people put in characters that would have made sense to be town?
Just feels like a total crapshoot, that maybe we should use for like...tie-breakers but not for picking the goal of the day.Comment

xiz making all the alignments based off of characters is a possibility, but it is HIGHLY unlikely. Not more dangerous than all of the other speculation we do anyway. Unless it's a host announcement coming from a power role, nothing is surefire.
