Re: TWG CXXXVIII - The Thing with the Stuff that Happened - POSTGAME
You didn't take the fall for being overdefensive, you took the fall cause you were inconsistentBeing overly defensive is a general wolftell not a wolftell specific to you.
A wolftell can be more specific to a player, but a wolftell is generally not applied to a direct player; it would be a wolf meta at that point.
Instead of being defensive you could try solving the game by ignoring the person who is putting the most heat on you like I always do and just go from there; nothing says you have to acknowledge the scumreading player. Solving the game correlates with being townread, not being defensive because someone threw some heat or shit at you
Further explanation of above can be demonstrated looking back at the game where YoshL was a wolf and I was a town who got too overdefensive and took the fall for it, and YoshL iirc wound up winning that game.
While nothing says I have to acknowledge the scumreading player I think it's even more scummy to ignore someone who is scumreading you if their point is even somewhat valid. I did make attempts to solve the game, just not at the same time as yoshl was attacking me.

zenith, your next step to improving is to take like 50 steps back when you start tunneling in and insisting that your logic is correct, and other people's logic is flawed imo
being defensive is perfectly fine, especially if you're still going about it in a way that makes you a townsperson
if you explode like cold kitten did the previous-previous jtwg, there's something to be desired, however a natural sounding reaction to claims that AA believed were illogical was fine imoComment

whoops I forgot to die
but I guess at a certain point I can just say something along the lines of "you're being dumb, here's why and I'm done with this for now" instead of continuing until one side gives up which at a certain point is counterproductive for town. I'll try it out and see how it works

Re: TWG CXXXVIII - The Thing with the Stuff that Happened - POSTGAME
I forgot to mention one thing: part of the reason I think my play was very meh was because there were more people than usual (at least in the games I've played) who weren't posting a whole lot. Xel (I think it was him) hit the nail on the head this game or last game, can't remember which, when he said that I'm the type of player who likes to analyze with a lot of content. I'm not as good at tonereading people right now (part of why I struggle in ltwg), my style is much more looking for inconsistencies or illogical thinking in people's posts. And if people don't post much I really don't have much to go off of. This usually results in weak D1s for me (idk about the first game, nothing felt really different except maybe people had different expectations because it was my first game). I guess nothing to do but play more and gain experience.

inconsistencies does not necessarily indicate wolfiness, imo, but instead, more of why those inconsistencies are popping up matter more. while someone may be shoving in for a lynch on someone while sprouting bad reasoning all over the place, it may just be that they really believe that the person is a wolf, and confirmation bias starts working its magic and stuffComment
