Re: FFR Community Pack Spring 2012 (Submissions Open)

Didn't have much to do in terms of homework so I found the time to start reviewing the batch a bit earlier than I expected.

            Oh My Love (WTFBrandon)
Very old-school feeling due to the minimalistic layering. Minijacks were interesting. Freezes didn't seem all that necessary however they added more oomph to the chart. Get back at me with an easier chart. Pending

            Dance Away (AlexDest)
            Medium
Acceptable. Could be simplified a little bit further and you could've left in some mines.
            Yes

            Hard
This chart really felt like a mixture between moches', Kommi and my files, haha. The moches influence is quite evident from the underlayered portions of the file with the mine usages. Meanwhile, the dense hand and jump layering sessions contrast the emptier sections, close to how Kommi and I would typically layer. It's not a bad call at all, I actually like light and bold contrast mainly because it's different and structured fairly well. My only commentary would be to layer a tad bit more jump placements during the light sections, but that's completely your call, not mine.
            Yes

            Jason Voorhees Infomercial (Nai)
Joke files inc. As acceptable as the layering is, I can't imagine anyone actually sitting through and and enjoying to play this. Save this for your own personal release I suppose. This isn't something quite suitable for a community pack in particular.
            No

            Mario's Theme (Midigami vs. marioGP87)
            Hard
            - Simplify the rainbow trill in the beginning. As accurate as it may be, it's incredibly difficult to hit this well let alone in time, lol. Also not the best way to begin a chart, most people would quit out at the sight of it.
            - Polyrhythms get boring and dull once it begins repeating. Doesn't really help that there isn't anything else going on in the song for you to layer.
            - Very repetitive, due to song choice itself. Not the best song to step with all honesty. It's equivalent to me stepping a 10 minute generic trance song that repeats over and over again.
            - It's far too uninteresting that I can't see anyone actually enjoying this :V
            No

            Perilous Paradise (Midigami)
            Hard
Acceptable. Could use more easier charts only if you have the time to make some.

            Expert
Short and sweet. I found some 32nd patterns to be moderately difficult to hit, but it provides an interesting scoring factor.
            Yes

Tenshi no Hashigo (Piano Version) (Midigami vs. Nai vs. Killjoy)
            Medium
Acceptable. See notes on Hard difficulty.

            Hard
There's barely any difference between this and the Expert chart. My call would be to remove this difficulty all together and bump the Medium chart to this difficulty. It'd only make sense this way.

            Expert
Short, sweet, and easy. Could've used a couple grace notes and a few chord placements here and there for consistency's sake.
            Yes

            ACCELERATOR (Scylaax)
            Medium
Simplify more. There's honestly not much of a difficulty gap between this and the Hard chart.

            Hard
No real commentary. Layering's solid and file's good for scoring.
            Pending

            Na o kansuru mono-tachi (Scylaax)
            Medium
            Acceptable.

            Hard
No real commentary. Layering's solid and file's good for scoring.
            Yes

to Luv me, I xxx for u. (reprise) (Scylaax)
            Hard
Could be easier and simpler but I didn't expect you to make an easier chart for this. I'll let it slide this time.
            Yes

            Expert
You sure are dependable when it comes to making scoring files.
            Yes

Alright. Will delete Hard on Tenshi no Hashigo. And I'll try to add easier charts to Perilous Paradise. I actually regretted not submitting Tenshi no Hashigo before submissions (for ffr winter) closed but I guess the collab was a success \o/.

              Also, rip Jason~

the standard chart is practically indexable so idk, i could try to make it better sometime since it took like 5 minutes to simplify from the hard chart lol

lol, what happened to "Generic as fuc pack name with a plain typographic banner, etc."?

I probably won't be able to submit stuff for the pack (heck, I can barely manage to have stuff for the batches!), but I sure can't wait to enjoy it.
