Shining Days (Darkcalibur) - Great wap file. Fun patterns and the difficulty fit the song. (7/10)
SHOOT! (Saki) - Great jack usage. Song was annoying. (7/10)
Spaceman (Kommisar) - Great song, amazing freeze usage and the trills are bomb as ****. But...I hated those freezes and 16ths in the final parts of the song. Amazing though. (9/10)
Sparrow Head Saki (Kommisar) - Amazing. (10/10)
The first the last (aloola) - You step this worst songs. Fine yet boring steps. (6/10)
The Underground (Torrent) - Holy shit, stop with the holds. Seriously, you had some cool patterns and like awful hold usage. (7/10)
Trippin' Vibes (Profraine) - Good song choice, but felt a bit too understepped. (6/10)
Try And Follow Me (moches) - sorry, hated the song... Patterns get a little old, but it's a moches file. Still fun. (7/10)
Vacancy!! (Gundam-Dude) - Fun chart, very easy. English singer makes it so bearable. (7/10)
xfer (Yesssss) - Hard and cool. (8/10)
Yukkuri mon de ne Pie Touch (aloola) - Fun patterns but an awful song. Still, lots of fun. (7/10)

5/10 is only average for these files if you've never played a real 1/10. Sure if you want to rate a file as 5/10 for this pack exclusively, fine, but 5/10 considering all the absolutely trashy files I've played? Sorry, but none of these files are that bad. He references Exige files and it's also impossible to judge any simfile outside of the context of the entire stepmania history, so you can't just take a pack and try and rate files without taking in influence and other such things. And, no offense, but if Alien Temple wasn't overly special, but the stepping was on par with Daydream Syndrome by most peoples standards. And Complete Darkness had awful overlapping freezes and stream that makes for ugly steps. Even if you appreciate everything else that's going on there, it's not any better than the files he rated 5/10. and you're telling me that Complete Darkness is 3 points away from Planet Karma, Bedtime Story or Staring at My Spaceship? Sorry, but I'm not seeing where this guy is even coming from. And his justifications are almost always, "boring patterns herp."

Average in relation to all simfiles you've played? So, apparently Alien Temple is so below average of every simfile he's ever played? It's a subjective opinion, so he'd have to take into account his other experiences and, unfortunately, I can't say Alien Temple ranks in the top 50 simfiles I've played and it's not a 10/10 or 9/10, but a 2/10? If you've played only simfiles that are so much better than Alien Temple that it's relegated to below 5/10, you would have almost never played a bad file.

Also, yeah, 5/10 is average, but only in the most objective sense. Taking into account that these files have been prescreened and are technically accurate and unique, 5/10 is basically saying, Any average simfile maker could've made it. Which is untrue. If it is, let's see someone else make it. Sorry, but an average simfile is worse than any of these by most anyone's standards.

i would argue that files that aren't "prescreened" don't exist anymore, since simfile databases are dead and most people would rather not bother with releasing a rejected file
therefore the typical file that gets through most possible judge panels is forcibly a 5/10, and files that do not get into a pack receive no rating period
in other words stepmania is dead
