Since it's summer, I thought it might be a neat idea for everybody to try one old pack every week and see how they've stood the test of time.

This pack actually brings back a lot of awesome memories of my beginnings as a chart maker; of course I got eighteen out of twenty files rejected, but we all start somewhere, don't we? Looking back at my old files, there's definitely some ideas there that have made it to my recent files, and although they're messy it's kinda neat playing them again and seeing how much things have changed

Other than that, there are actually a lot of very enjoyable files in here, namely:

Last Boss Battle Theme
Mad Mechanism
Rapid Stream
Revontulet
Rottel-da-Station
Set the World on Fire

and most of the other files are at least decent. strangely a lot of the best files are bunched together though...overall I'm disappointed this pack was so poorly received; it may not have been great but it certainly wasn't as horrible as everybody made it out to be

any recommendations for the next pack to play? I'm thinking one of the Xoon packs would be a decent idea, maybe 2/3

going through random files

Pump Me Amadeus- felt like a file from Xoon 4....simple but quite fun. patterns were a little repetitive but good variation.

Last Boss Battle Theme- ridiculously challenging file. want to SDCB this (the edit difficulty)

Heart of the Rainbow- if you like 12th jacks of all kinds this is the perfect file for you. a lot more interesting than I thought it would be

Donkey Punch- the gimmicks are perfect and manage to make this fun despite HORRIBLE jumpjack and freeze usage.

Dark Demon's Song- a few 24th bursts at the end are organized awfully, but otherwise I enjoyed this quite a bit. reminds me of Reach/Kilga, honestly.

Parade of the Wooden Soldiers- did not enjoy this. strangely it's the noteworthy authors in here who have some of the weaker files (behanjc's Sepia was also quite disappointing after a second play)

Losing Touch- heh this was fun

Title Screen- this file would have fit right into VGMP2. decent in spite of the random jacks everywhere

Something Terrible- if this isn't the worst file in the pack it's by far the least polished. the graphics are pretty bad, the sample blows and the song itself sounds like some kind of Fruityloops sample. file itself is bleh other than the random BPM changes at the beginning and ZERO's trademark jumpjacks of doom

if I'm seeing one pattern it's that a lot of these files are harder to AAA/FC than your typical LC/Xoon/DC packs because of the pattern usage. probably a factor in why this pack was so criticized.

at least some of my crappy files came out to be gold, thats kinda cool... I remember looking at this pack awhile back and asked myself what i was smoking for most of my stepfiles. I dont know why i put those weird bpm gimmicks in MM, since they are pointless as ****, but everyone uses cMOD so w/e... good times, good times...

I just did the same thing last week, rofl. The great thing about this game is the history you get to build up and how rewarding it is to look back on all the fun you've had

This was the only pack I ever got files into lol. Then again, it was one of two or three I even remember submitting to back then.

I'm liking these blasts from the past, they're fueling my interest to get back into stepping.
