PR is pitch relevance; stylzing your column/pattern usage to bring out the changes in pitch of an instrument

for instance if it's alternating between two notes you would too; if it changes one pitch but keeps the other same you'd only change the respective column. or perhaps an instrument is playing rolls upward you have rolls going right, and when it goes downward you go to the left.

Also note that lower notes go to the left while higher notes go to the right side, like a piano/any other instrument.

For the longest time, my idea of PR was, from lowest to highest, V < > ^......

I used that for pretty much all of my files in FFR, which is my excuse for why they suck... :P

actually as long as you're consistent you're allowed to do PR that way

it gives the same PR 'feel' to your simfiles

I kinda felt that way back when I first made the files, but when I replay them now, it's like "omg why would i ever step this like that grosssss"..... PR wasn't the only thing wrong with my old files lol....

I'd like to think I've gotten better though....

1 minute is pretty short

is there a reason why you can't step the whole thing?

edit: 20 seconds into the video, why do you step it like that? it should be doing 8th minijacks, like 1, 1211211211211 or something

also you miss notes when moving between patterns and have some superfluous 8ths here and there

when I got to the solo I wanted to get it over and done with so bad that I half-assed all the fast bits but other then that it should be alright

20 seconds in: those could be jacks or converting them into a pattern like LDUDLDUD isn't uncommon. It could be either I guess. I just chose that pattern. Strange comment regarding the 8ths though. They're all accounted for as I recall.

What notes did I miss though? There were a couple parts where I dumbed down the detail cuz it can get ridiculous. Not trying to "criticize your criticism". I just wanna know what it is =P.

Why didn't I step the whole song? Too lazy I guess. I just wanted to really concentrate on the solo. It's actually very accurate.

*edit* Oh and I'll try your version. I didn't know you stepped it, but if you half-assed the solo it may still have been an alright idea.

*edit again* I think I know what superfluous 8ths you're referring to now. I guess they're tough to hear @ 1x speed. Maybe I should have taken those out.

well idk but I def. heard notes while watching the video that you didn't step

I don't mean like extra notes in the really fast streams, I'm not that pedantic/observant, I mean between the slower patterns

honestly though there's no excuse for dumbing down patterns in easy sections. it's kinda like what glove said, every pattern below a certain speed is roughly equally easy so you may as well make it pr
