dore - If the majority of the simfile authors agree with putting hands and mines in the files, we'll do so. Until then, I'd say no.

I'm yes for both. But then again, I really like mines.

Oh, and I wouldn't mind if we could use hands, because I can't think of any interesting patterns for my song, and hands would make it much more interesting. Mines are fine too, it's not like you just can't turn them off.

I would believe FFR has other things in store for Christmas, Gibson; Chris's title throws you off a bit.

EDIT: I'm not too sure about mines. When we throw all of this together it would be quite awkward if one file has mines, the next doesn't, the next 3 does, the next 9 don't, etc. Hands I can see being fine.

ehh, i think mines are ok for pad steps, but not hands.... not for a DDR 9 in difficulty....

for KB, i think both are fine, even though i dont think ill be putting in any hands...

but if they ARE allowed, then what if we get MAJOR inconsistencies in difficulty throughout the file? i think that may mess it up....


IDEA: you said in the message or something, rebirth, that afterwards youd release each file individually? how bout we keep them out of the marathon file, and release an edit stepchart, as an option, for the individual files that has w/e you want in them?

Cool post.

1. It won't go into FFR because FFR is gay and there's no way to get 20 separate permissions or put an hour long song in the game.

2. Hands should definitely be allowed. Everyone is agreeing, and hands are one of the essential things that FFR doesn't have. Since this is for SM we might as well put hands.

3. Mines should also be allowed, but used only sparingly. Mines add that last touch of flavour to the file. Unless they fit perfectly, don't use them. But they should still be allowed.

4. Rebirth, you said you wanted 11-12 footer keyboard files. You do realize that without hands (mines help) this is nearly impossible on many songs.

5. Damn, Cyanite took a half-decent song. Now a potentially good file will come out like sh*t. Whatever.

6. You can't be a part of this unless you have FFR files in the game.

7. I've already done 1/7 of my file, with tons of hands (quads too), but it's a freaking masterpiece. PLEASE allow hands. It would be really, really, retarded if you didn't.

8. Hands are EXTREMELY fun on pad if used right. See my What I've Done - Heavy (account: stargroup) as an example.

Off the top of my head, Scottish, Hammy and EnR don't have files in the game. Not saying they're not worthy, just contradicts what you said.

I know at least scott has file(s) in the queue

rebirth, perhaps you can change up the thread title and/or the 1st post a bit? i was damn confused about this for a bit... considering we had talked about the potential to get this into FFR, and for various reasons, that just isn't possible...

but the initial post led me to believe it would be going into FFR. possibly a bit of tl;dr, but i did read most, if not all, of it...

either way, i'm very glad to see this being done for SM by the FFR stepfile community. great way to bring guys together, work together, show what FFR stepfilers can do, etc etc. you have my endorsement.

and for those worried about FFR and Christmas. c'mon.... C'MON... really, that's about all i have to say. C'MON!
