DS: I'm not asking you to write an essay, and wtf stepmania professor? The analogy is meant to bring attention to the fact that usually people who are good at what they do have the best impact on people trying to learn when they actually give some solid feedback. I mean sure, this is the internet, we can say whatever -- but if all you are going to say is "This sucks," then why waste the time? It's not like you need to write paragraphs about each song -- just some simple constructive criticisms can go a long way.

Unfortunately too many people in this community are too young to perpetuate it, oh well.

PS: I have made plenty of stepfiles -- I know the process just fine.

do you really think that we need to soften our criticisms? if something ****ing sucks, then it ****ing sucks; it has more effect than saying, "this file was alright but everything was wrong with it"

softening your words with feigned praise isn't nearly as compelling as a sharp kick in the ass

oh and most people are too dense to ask about what they did wrong with a file and instead try to disprove the critic

i, personally, cannot think of a more concise way to say "everything about this was wrong and you should learn how to make a simfile starting from scratch" than "this file is a piece of ****." sounds constructive enough to me.

I never tried to disprove the critics, but if you would just try take a step back and realize what in the hell you're talking about. Do you even realize that maybe... just MAYBE... that holding back on the harsh comments would help them try to get better and even warm up with open ears to what you have to say? Kn33grow said he applaudes the hard work that everyone put into this pack, and for that to be tainted by senseless opinions that do nothing but insult the artist doesn't help.

People complain about the small diversity of the style of simfiles, but the egos, man.... the egos are ginormous. I made files so that the less experienced players can still have fun with released files instead of the common packs like CKBMP, KBC, etc. and so that maybe the SM community's veteran players can have fun with it, too. I'm not forgetting that DS did give me good commentary. And looking back at my files a second time with that in mind, I did realize the things he pointed out and sought out to straighten out the edges in my simfiles. So I'm not bitching about DS making me feel bad about what he said, rather, I'm just saying that a tone down in the language might push beginning artists to get much better

haha... see that's bullshiit, every file on this pack was judged, and if good enough, made it on here... there's no way that it was complete trash, start over???? yeah i highly doubt it... point out the flaws like i said earlier, i mean he pointed out, over "used jumps" GREAT!!!!! that's a start... but stupid remarks as you said... dont even know what to say to it anymore.
