    Piano music; Good for stepfiles?

    Greetings,
I have played FFR/SM for quite some time, and reading Arch's guide I wanted to make some stepfile/s of my own.

I was curious as to if piano music is a good choice for a beginner, I think of it as so because I can make the beats very precise with such a song, but the BPM can tend to change continiously.

I was thinking of doing FF VII Piano Collections' One Winged Angel, and was wondering if it had already been done (a search says the PIANO one hasn't).

A few things I wanted to ask, if anyone has done a piano piece stepfile before, is it in any means too hard? And how am I to find the BPMs on a song? The automatic "WinBPM" doesn't help and I was in need of a good BPM detecting-like applicant.

If you can help, I would be most grateful.

Use WinBPM. Tap the spacebar in time to the beat. Simple.

        don't even try fur elise.

The notes arn't at any constant beat, and any beginner stepfile maker would fuck it up. I play the song on piano, and theres LOTS of offbeat notes, and several bpm changes.

        And

piano songs are the hardest song to stepfile.

Unless you make the song, or its a fairly basic piano song...fast piano songs are especially hard to stepfile, because there often isn't a bpm.

This is often because they are recorded and played by people, so they take control of how fast certain parts are compared to others. Piano notes are also very hard to makeout on a low music speed.

I agree. If you are a beginner the I suggest you try a song with a strong beat where the tempo doesn't change at all.

I suggest you don't do piano songs

Take it from Spazzbite, Hyro, and myself.

It's often better to find classical songs that were remixed electronically, or classical songs done by an orchestra. I also don't recommend you do One Winged Angel as all the OWA DWIs out there have just been overshadowed by mine.

hah TRUE DAT. Minute Waltz is going to haunt me forever... Try something easy like...i donno just something not too fast, but not too slow, something with a very steady beat, and not too many really really fast notes in the song

i reccomend techno as well. the notes make sense and the bm changes are blatant. piano songs go off beat, sometimes, as three hundred people have said this thread.
