Help convering .WAV into .MP3 files.

I make my own music but when recorded Mics (Ultra High Quality) they are put into .wav format. I have downloaded programs that convert the music back to mp3 but they are usually bogus. Can anybody help me so I can upload music that will make your heads spin?
