    Dark Moor - Silver Lake

I feel like plugging this file out of a combination of boredom and because I think it's pretty good.

(Click the image to go to the file):

See file's page for more infos lolz. Please tell me what you think as I barely ever get any feedback for any of my files except for my old ones which are crappy and horribly out of sync. Kthx.

Still needs work. It kept jumping around Orange, Yellow and Standard notes. I played the heavy, and can tell you that your BPMis off and needs consistent changing here and there to keep pace.

Who cares if the notes don't stay one color. I didn't want to change the BPM just to make the colors stay consistent because lots of people who play my files like playing them on resonance, so I decided to keep it resonance playable and keep the notes on different colors. It's the exact same anyways.

As for the BPM being off, I asked a quite a few experienced players/stepfile artists to try it before I uploaded it, and you're the first person who has found it offbeat. There is only one pattern I can think of in the whole song that needs a tiny tiny tiny tiny BPM adjustment, but I didn't adjust it because as I said, I wanted to keep it resonance playable and unless you're trying to AAAA the song, those small parts I can think of don't really affect you at all.

If the notes don't stay one color that means you are off-sync dude. Thats why its wrong. They effect me tons because instead of hitting what should be 8ths and maybe 16ths, i'm hitting 32nds.

Who in your opinion is an experienced player. The ones you are asking shouldn't be the ones you talk to all the time. By posting here you get unbias results. Even put the assist tick on. You'll hear the difference.

I'm going to play it again now. I'll try to make more detailed points.

Edit: After replaying, I'll submit that the off-beat ness of it isn't that blaring as I originally though. But it's still in there a few times to screw with someones score. I'll also add that if you want to be treated as a respectable artist you should really take the time to change the bpms accordingly. When you nod your head to the beat of a song and you are getting 16ths it screws up some players. By doing these things people will look at you as a better simfile artist, and not somebody who wanted to make their file look pretty.

I play with assist tick on. You're not off-sync if the notes change colors at all, the song has just gone into a time signature, which Progressive Metal songs frequently do. The "correct" solution to that as far as stepmania goes is to adjust the BPM accordingly, but since I wanted it to stay resonance playable, I didn't, I just left the colors different because of the time signature change.

The noteskins may be 32nd's, but they have the same spacing and timing as the 16th's of the same pattern.

Understood, but you do realize that when you do shift from color to color that there obviously is a difference in timing for certain notes. This is where you are off beat. In those tranisitions, because you don't change bpm, your transition notes are off, causing me to have a mental lapse when i'm playing the song. Instead of going with the beat of the song, i'm forced to follow the layout of the steps.

If the notes are changing colour, all it means is that your BPM is off. Nothing is stopping you from keeping the NOTES syncronized if you know what you're doing.

That said, the wild colours didn't bother me at all. (I'm not an MA fiend though)

Re: Dark Moor - Silver Lake

See... His thing was that, though his notes changed color, the BPM change was almost mathmatically perfect to use the different notes and still be on key. This way he could keep the file playable through FFResonance. The problem with that is (as with most rock songs) it never works out that way and throws small parts of his file off-sync. It is not bad, but it does not help either.

                    So, uh.

Other than that, was the file bad?

It WAS offsync, no doubt about that.
The file reminded me of Naruto: nearly all filler.
Most parts were very easy, and then there was some random hard part, either jumpstreams or jumps alongside freezes.

So meh, combine that with the fact that I'm not a fan of the msuic and...
Not my kind of file really. But certainly not that bad, either.

I'd honestly reccomend uploading two versions of your next song: a bpm change-less Resonance version and a correct-bpm Stepmania version.

Files like that are fun on rates, I find. Try it 1.2/1.3x.
