Also, lots of songs on FFR are offbeat because of the problems with calculating gap. Just think of it as someone in a band playing the notes either a tiny bit before or a tiny bit after everyone else in the band does.
When they use 12th/16th/24th/32nd notes to fix the fact that their fourths and eighths are offbeat, that's offsync.
