    MixMasterLar wants your feedback

I was thinking of making a song pack of my work, I would do some DDR edits, some PIU edits add all my FFR edits and do some for a bonus. but then it came to me: does anyone like the steps I make? How can I make them better? What tips could I use?

So here's the deal: I'm asking for everbody to try out my sims and give feedback here. Give advice, give rants, give tips, I dont care. I just want to know how to get better at step making B4 I try another one. you can try out my sims here:

    http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...u=MixMasterLar

Thanks in advance. I look forward to your ideals

I looked at one of them on Resonance. Recording steps is autofail if you don't go back and sync them.

Yeah, but I dont get the point....

As for as Braver Soul goes, what was wrong with it? it was one of my first so I expected it to be somewhat lame but I can't fix it w/o knowing what y'all want.

Oh and Yessss, I'll do a better job checking my steps after I do them

the steps don't relate to the music at all

                Re: MixMasterLar wants your feedback

Don't use Record except quarter notes (To keep beat). Try to use edit more, then go back and play a section at a time to see if it alligns. If it doesn't, then go back and re-edit until it does. Using Record for your first steps in a giant No-No. Try and make sure you know a song before you step it, knowing where 4ths, 8ths, 12ths, 16ths, and ect. are supposed to go. Knowing where to use Jacks/Trills/Plain old Stream is a skill you don't HAVE to know, but it will make your sims a lot better. Use common sense on where to put jumps, it's really not that difficult. Make Steps that aren't more difficult than you can play when you start out, you need to be able to check them yourself by playing it. If you are having a hard time stepping a fast patteren, listen to it on a lower rate and edit it in that way. If you want people to like your steps, then spend all the time you need on it, make it perfect (exactly how you wanted it), not close to it. Steer clear of hands and quads on your first steps. And for gods sake, Make sure you have the right BPM and Gap BEFORE you start.

If you don't know anything about music theory, it's better for you to:

                1. Learn it, then step songs .
                Or
                2. Don't learn it, and don't step songs.

That's some good advice right there. I've been using too much record on my steps, so I'll cut that crap out.

On a side note, are there any songs you guys think I should re-step besides Braver Soul?

Well try simplistic short stuff first for your own entertainment. Play it and play it, and then ask yourself if this were longer would I want to play this song more than one time? If the answer is no or if the song isn't fun keep tweaking and find more interesting music.

Techno and things like it tend to bet he choice for songs here because they are usually appealing even if that particular person doesn't like techno. Techno is 'usually' easier to do as well becauase its all computer generated (at least mostly/synthesized etc) so the bpm is normally SET at a computer rate, so finding it is easier than a rock song or a live performance of a sort.

I posted this without dling any files I don't have the time. Those are just general tips.

Before uploading any file for critque, play through it with Assist Tick on. If the tick doesn't flow with the music at all and makes it sound like crap, it probably is.

                          Best tip you'll ever hear.

Try stepping something by Saskrotch, that should be an easy start.
                            I'm stepping Egypt Dance now.
