I'm just throwing this idea out there

Now that I've been playing stepmania long enough to be able to pick out songs that would make good stepfiles, I got to thinking about the DDR songs. There are a lot of them that could be made into legit keyboard simfiles. It's been done before (Toph did a lot of the ones that were pulled from IIDX, for example, and BMR's done a bunch) but I think that it would make a good pack if we restepped totally new steps for DDR songs, both keyboard and pad, to make them legitamitely harder, if they can be.

Again, this is just a concept, but i want to hear some suggestions/feedback on this.

Re: I'm just throwing this idea out there

There have been plenty of DDR songs made into keyboard files. There are even more of them that haven't been though. And there are also plenty of them that would suck as a keyboard file.

A DDR keyboard pack might be good, but there are already enough packs going on, there won't be much music variety, and there aren't enough good songs left that haven't been keyboard'd to make a legitimate pack.

Edit: I forgot about the sheer number of DDR songs. After going through the whole list of them, I realized that this wouldn't be too bad of an idea for a pack.

Edit2: I now also realize that most of the packs are just finishing up and this would actually be a good new pack.

Re: I'm just throwing this idea out there

I don't care if they've already been made into keyboard sims or not. I'm looking for about 80-100 DDR songs, regardless of if they've been stepped or not, that could be stepped into legitimite files. I want all new steps, not just ones people have already made.

It wouldn't take as long because the BPM and gap (for the most part) is already spot on, people just need to make edits, BGs, banners, whatever.

      Again, it's a concept

Cool idea. It's actually a likeable idea for a pack. I won't have to put in hours to find a song and get the sync to be accurate.

I was playing some DDR randomly, and noticed that some stuff actually would be good for stepping. Some of said stuff comes from IIDX, of course, but hasn't really been touched by a popular sim artist. Spin the Disc is a good example.

I think this should happen. It doesn't have to be an OMG EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION WHILE WE POST WHAT IS GOING ON BEFORE PACK IS RELEASED HYPE PLS type of pack. It can be, well, just a pack of simfiles.

stepping bemani songs is pointless because notecharts for them already exist

Even if it has been touched by a popular sim artist, I'd still like to see some new steps for some songs... like Max 300 or Colors

But if i get enough positive feedback and a lot of people who want to do this and want to help out with this, then this will happen

I can see how this would be a good idea, but perhaps instead of using the originals, we should all do remixes of them and make them uber-hard.
Then, it would be familiar but at the same time original.
                  How's that sound?

be lovin has a fun chart on ddr and an amazing chart on beatmania

it also has a chart for pop'n that i haven't played

it has quite enough notecharts already

Re: I'm just throwing this idea out there

DDR charts are basically irrelevant to playing SM charts on keyboard due to lack of difficulty. IIDX and Pop'n machines are hard to come by, and a lot of people don't have the money or interest to import them. I'm not really sure how much relevance Pop'n charts have to SM, but I know IIDX has a lot. The problem here is that most FFR users aren't adept enough at IIDX to play anything on 7key, let alone the 7a charts, which I'm pretty sure are the most relatable. Making a chart for SM gives something fun for that vast population to play on keyboard.

There are also a lot of cool songs on DDR not featured in (or taken from, depending on your position) other Bemani games. Well.. a lot might be a bit of a stretch. There are some, though, and considering how many DDR songs there are, some is a lot in terms of a pack of simfiles.

                          Enough debating.

We'll see how many people want to make simfiles... then we'll go from there. I like all the positive feedback, though.

Maybe we can do regular DDR songs, and some remixes?
