How do I load the bg into my simfile?

Every time I try it just gives me the Stepmania bg. Sorry for my n00bness

make it [songname]-BG.jpg/png
or go into the sm and look for BACKGROUND:; and type it there

The filename of the background is irrelevent.

SM should detect graphics on it's own. If it doesn't, go to options and choose "reload songs/courses." If that doesn't do it, the only way to fix it is to manually edit the .SM file using notepad and add something like this:

#BACKGROUND:THE_NAME_OF_THE_IMAGE_GOES_HERE.WHATEVER_THE_FILE_EXTENSION_IS;

Don't forget the semicolon( on the end.
