    Arch, you screwed up

I've been playing Arch's Keyboard Megapack lately and have noticed some issues. First of all, he converted all of the steps to Maniac, whether the original DWI had it on Maniac or Challenge. Quite frankly, this isn't a good idea - it causes version conflicts among screenshots. On songs like Never Gonna Come Back Down, Votum Stellarum, Leading Cyber, Oi Punk, etc. where the difficult steps were originally Challenge, there will now be 2 sets of screenshots out there - 1 with the difficulty as Challenge, and another with the difficulty as Heavy. I'm all for keeping only one set of steps in the file - it makes things easier - but if the steps were originally Challenge, they should have been kept as Challenge. The biggest crime here is PSMO - the song is so notorious for its challenge steps that the acronym "PSMO" got invented. But here Arch decides to change PSMH's steps into PSMO's, which is both extremely confusing and completely unnecessary.

Secondly, there are a number of issues with syncing in this pack. I assume this comes from Arch's modification of the DWI files when he changed all the steps to Maniac for no apparent reason. Votum Stellarum is now horribly offsync by half a measure. Compare the DWI files:

Note the complete omission of half a measure of empty space before the song begins.

Another big screw-up is in The Legend of MAX. Arch edited the length of the freeze and the speed of the huge speed-up during the freeze, making the song offsync.

This makes everything after the freeze really, really offsync.

Not to say the keyboard megapack isn't cool - it is - it would have been cooler, though, if Arch had actually tested the songs himself before releasing them, and perhaps shown a bit more judgment as to what part of the songs he was going to tamper with.

PSMO=PARANOiA Survivor Max Oni, aka the Oni steps to PARANOiA Survivor Max.

Sorry, on Votum Stellarum, that's not a matter of offsyncing, that's just plain wrong. Feel how the steps don't even go to the music, then add that 00 to the beginning of the file, and replay it (or play the version in your Mwerp folder.)

The heavy/challenge thing becomes an even huger issue on VITA. In case you don't know, there are 2 versions of VITA - one with only heavy steps (which are keyboard), and one with pad heavy steps and keyboard challenge steps. Both have exactly the same banner, BG, and song name, so there's no way to tell them apart unless you know the differences.

Arch took VITA v2 and changed its challenge steps to heavy, and then removed the pad steps. So basically now VITA v2 looks exactly the same as VITA v1. You'd have to know the differences between the groove radars (v1 has way more freezes) to know that he put v2 in the song pack instead of v1. In fact, browsing through the song pack at first, I actually thought v1 was in there - I tell them apart because v1 has only heavy steps. Who cares if the song names are in red or not? You can turn that feature off in SM.

Hmm strange I haven't noticed any problems, surprisingly all my songs are properly synced.

Both Votum and screwed-up Votum have the same number of steps, it's just that Arch's is missing half a measure of silence at the beginning. That's not being off-sync, that's just starting the steps in the wrong place in the music - half a measure too early. Play the song and you'll notice that it doesn't go with the music.

                It does?

I added the v1 to the song title myself.

I wasn't aware that V1 had any banner at all.
RJ made a bg/banner for it, so I decided to redo things up a little bit.

RE: Re: RE: Arch, you screwed up

I changed votum because when I downloaded it the way it was arranged made it really offsync for me. I changed the gap so that it starts at a different part of the song.

Also, addressing Legend of MAX this is because the one I downloaded was offsync, so I attempted to fix it.

v1 had no banner. It is just when i got it I put a banner in it. Then evilpeer downloaded it off me. Then he put it on his site and chardish must of downloaded it there.
