starting to thin out the shit that cant cut it !!!!

first on the chopping block are files that are unfinished or super unpolished (lookin at u wc with ur catless cat file)

also lookin at like mostly me cuz i never finish anything or do anything

nothing is getting axed yet (except internal stuff that's getting pulled/shuffled) but consider this something like a two week warning

also i should update the spreadsheet but i dont even have time to procrastinate on that since i'm prioritizing procrastination on something else atm

the pool is no longer ordered by strength of submission because AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT SHIT (i'll make time later this weekend)

Ojos Asi (Cataclysm) - I've played this a few times already and I never really could get my thoughts clear on it until looking it over with lofty last week. What you have isn't inherently bad and there a lot of neat areas and cool approaches to highlighting vocals. The problem is you can't highlight vocals for the entire song/file, which is what you end up doing. You follow the vocals too much and you drown out a lot of the really cool instrumentals and ultimately the file is worse off for it. I don't think this is a situation where I can give you any specific timestamps, you're gonna have to feel this one out. Go over the song, figure out the areas of clear instrumental precedence you want to draw attention to and then just follow it faithfully. If it ends up seeming too easy, it's not. It's fine. Right now the file is all spice and no sugar. All chocolate and no vanilla. It's too rich- you need to ground more of it in 'meh' to really give context to the moments that shine. It's not so weak as-is that it isn't deserving of a pool spot however given the current competition and the expected submissions I doubt it would make the final cut.

Ain't That Funny (Wh1teh) - I really like the 80s hip hop feel of the song. The chart is alright, it's not stellar, it's not unplayable. It's just a little too generic, a little too structured. If cata's file has too much spice this doesn't really have any. It doesn't really have anything that stands out and sets it apart from the rest of the competition, and as a non-standard scoring file I think it's weaker than both of your other submissions. I would have pooled it if you sent it to me 6 months ago but at this point it just can't hack it against the rest of the playing field.

i'll keep hacking through the review backlog over time for the files that really need it

ps. we're looking at like a realistic 2 month time frame until release at this point (subject to change and/or apathy)
