Head over to the FFR Batch Forum for all the details on how you can get your file into the game. The Artist Permissions forum section will help you find out if FFR has permission to use the song your file goes with.
Re: THREAD MOTHAFUCKAS MINTY 2 BITCHES NEW PACK YEAH
City of Revelry (Antronach) - :OK_Mine:. Changes play out well, the only thing that's a little iffy for me is the fast anchor jack into the hand at 114. I'll let you know if I think it should be changed.
Cuatro Babys (Leo137) - Pretty cool song/file overall, though it does drag on a bit. I think a little more pattern flavor in the latter half would go a long way here. There are a lot of non-static anchors -> jacks like at 38.55 on 3 and 41.12 on 2. Personally I think a fast anchor into a slow jack is much more awkward than a slow anchor into a fast jack, and the trickiness of alternating between those two different situations repeatedly adds up a lot. I think it's a lot of the technical charm of the file, so I wouldn't completely gut them, but I do think they constitute "too much" (though this might get fixed incidentally with more pattern variation in the latter half).
Some specific comments
77.9 - suuuuper awkward
105.1 - the right hand anchor sequence that starts here is pretty out of this world
I don't think the file particularly needs a cut before the last chorus but you might do that if you are drawing blanks on pattern variety.
YODELLING (Choof) - I like the pattern arrangement everywhere in this file except for the 64th rolls. I don't like how they end in a 64th minijack, and I don't like how the first is an ascending that starts on a 4, and the other mirrored. Imo the rolls are too technically demanding to be anything other than frustrating given the rest of the file. I'd like to see the minijack changed to a 32nd at minimum.
Kamikaze (Choof) - no.
Get Got (lemonguy) - See cuatro babys. Drags on a bit. I'm ok with accepting it in full but there has to be more pattern variety.
Re: THREAD MOTHAFUCKAS MINTY 2 BITCHES NEW PACK YEAH
Mina, final verdict on Radioactive? Would it be better for the file to go elsewhere or would you rather want to swap that with ALONE and send ALONE elsewhere?
Re: THREAD MOTHAFUCKAS MINTY 2 BITCHES NEW PACK YEAH
Tiger Yamato - V35 (Innes Erthser Remix) (Fanta) - Cool scoring marathon. I requested this so naturally it's an auto accept, I looked over it quickly and didn't see any issues. I'll obviously give it a few run throughs before the pack is released so if I have any issues with anything I'll let you know.
Adieu (swiftwinter) - Love it. My only issue is the intro is considerably more difficult than everything else. Take it down a notch or two and you are good to go.
Hung Up (csenc) - I like what you have so far, but I need a completed version to make any further judgments. Hard to tell if some of the empty sections are stylistic choices or not.
Also lmao 138.9
I know the spreadsheet/op hasn't been updated in a little bit and I'll get around to that after I finish up the few other things I'm working on rn
Re: THREAD MOTHAFUCKAS MINTY 2 BITCHES NEW PACK YEAH
Spreadsheet has been updated a bunch and will probably see more updating over the course of the next hour or so. If you've made a submission that isn't listed of the state of your submission doesn't appear to be updated when it should, let me know.
Reviews Gold (Cataclysm) - When I initially played this it seemed to me to be a little bland, and more than a little dragged out. I chalked that up to not really being into the music genre but I had a chance to get Lofty to look at it and he echoed those concerns. He had another major and somewhat more generalized observation. He thought the file felt unsure of itself, that it had no clearly discernible identity.
I think this is an important concept that applies more or less to a lot of the subs thus far. When I charted telephone the only thing I really knew I wanted to do was to put short polyrhythm runningmen to phone ringing sounds. Every other part of the file was constructed with the intent of building up to and highlighting that element of the chart. Clearly that approach doesn't work for every song but a sense of identity doesn't necessarily need to be so restrictive. When I started rock lobster I had no idea what I was going to do for any part of it, all I knew is I was going to make the chart just as if not more silly than the song itself. Too strong a sense of identity can be polarizing and lead to one dimensional charts. We saw a lot of that in 2007. That's not where we want to go (or where this file is), but a solid sense of identity leads to a chart feeling inspired. That is a quality that should be pursued in any chart being submitted to this pack. There's a lot of merit in a chart being able to say "I know what I am" and even more merit in a chart being able to say "I know what I am not".
In this specific instance, I'm not sure what the identity of the chart is, or if it has one, and if it does, it doesn't convey it. I think in hindsight a lot of the changes I suggest/demand are in pursuit of highlighting or accentuating a clearly defined identity for submissions, but I'm not really sure where to start with this particular file. And I think above all that's ultimately what makes this file to me "meh" rather than "ooh".
new/promoted files: Radioactive SOS Siren Blow Me It's Gonna Be Me Camino Al Sol
additional comments: Adieu (swiftwinter) - Had a chance to talk to Lofty a bit this week and we both agree that the intro still needs work. Our specific concerns have subtle differences. My concern is that it is still too difficult relative to the rest of the file. His concern is that there's too much going on- it's too chaotic and in being so it detracts from the expression of the music that it goes to.
We both highlighted 11.152s (up and down) as a clear contributor to this. I think I mentioned this to you before, but it should probably be taken down to 12ths. More can/should probably be done as well. After taking a closer look I think using the short runningman at 8s to open the intro sequence is probably a bit overkill.
Anime Janai/orleavemealone_: Don't believe I've gotten any updates addressing the concerns with these files (I don't actually feel as strongly about the patterning in anime janai anymore but would likely benefit from a critical overview)
