    Bbop800's Simfiles

    Hey y'all.

So throughout the summer I really started to get into Stepmania stuff again and spent most of the time improving my skills by using spread. Then after a while I decided "hey, why not make my own simfiles!?" and so I did. COOL STORY, RIGHT?

Anyways, since I primarily use spread I would obviously recommend these simfiles to spread players. That isn't to say they're not easy, though. Most of you guys will find these really easy.

"Castle Rock (Black Betty Parody)" from Rayman Legends

    Code:
    Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8767n5nalygeoua/Castle+Rock.zip
    Difficulty: 11 Easy
    Length: 1:53

This is my third simfile, from the Rayman Legends soundtrack. Personally I think this is the better one out of the two.

    "Hoedown" by Zomboy

    Code:
    Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/dt46dn3uftfddc1/Hoedown.zip
    Difficulty: 9 Really Easy
    Length: 1:44

My second simfile. And yes, it's brostep. Get at me.

I've only playtested these myself, so constructive criticism would be nice! (And if you really feel like it, you can say something about the banners I made too, not that those matter as much.)

There's more to come - hopefully.

      Really awkwardly easy files :\

Darn I was interested to see what you did with Hoedown since I actually stepped that file a while back. Can't really compare since yours is so drastically easier.

I'll criticize Hoedown a bit, don't really feel like doing both.
      - Beginning is left without steps for seemingly no reason. The part where you start putting notes is not significantly different from the first few measures.
      - Jumps are pretty random in the beginning. (i.e. the one at 9.95s, what is that doing there??)
      - 16ths aren't stepped to anything in the beginning either. Sometimes you step them to something, more often than not they're random. Try to stick with sounds that stand out just don't put 16ths in random spots.
      - No pitch relevancy anywhere is a little disappointing.
      - Part around 30s where the quarter notes with some 16th gallops starts is completely wrong. You didn't really follow the drums at all.
      - 48s - 89s is mostly ok. Be careful with some of your holds, as you tend to hide some notes at the end of holds.
      - 16th stream at the very end of the file is really strangely stepped compared to the rest of the file and doesn't really fit. The patterns are really random and unfitting as well.

Graphics are fine, but that should be the least of your concern. Graphics might draw some people in, but most people don't care about them too much. If a file is bad no one is going to play it again because it has a pretty banner. Overall you have a lot of stuff you could work on. I'll link some guides below that you should really read and learn a lot from. Best of luck with your future files!

http://www.cosmovibe.com/ncguide/ - Huge compilation of terms and information for making simfiles. You probably wont read this whole thing but if it has anything to do with charting files, it is somewhere in that guide. The whole thing is a good read.

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=82080 - Some basic points to follow when making a file. You should try and follow most, if not all of these.

Luckily, I never addressed anything about the banners being more important than the songs themselves. :P

And thanks for the links, I'll be sure to check those out.
