Re: The X-mod Project Released!
find more people that use it to play seriously in the community where the pack was released in -- go ahead and look at the SM scores thread/SM solo scores thread/anywhere else on this site and see how many use SM5 - it's nowhere near prevalent
in this case, it's better to cater to the majority, and SM5 is under no circumstance a majority - just because you use it doesn't mean everyone else does
EDIT: also, let me clear up one thing -- I love SM5 when it comes to making gimmicky charts like this; hell, I can even script modifiers inside a .SM file; that's incredible. When I step regular, constant BPM keyboard files, I step them for myself because I make files for songs I enjoy. I won't use another editor for stepping PIU, because nothing can replicate Andamiro's incredibly amazing bullshittery like SM5 can.
But, when it comes to charts like these, I want others to enjoy them as well. Unfortunately, not that many people on FFR use SM5.Last edited by TC_Halogen; 09-14-2013, 03:08 PM.Comment

Re: The X-mod Project Released!
if you use a SM5 warp (as opposed to a negative), it won't work in 3.95 - i.e. Kommi's file
which is exactly what I was trying to say with "it would be nice if SM5 back-converted warps to their appropriate negative calculations for older versions"Comment

Re: The X-mod Project Released!
and this pack isn't intended for that community. People in this community have established their preference of StepMania. A large majority of those members that provide feedback are SM 3.95 CVS users, as opposed to a smaller group of SM 5 users. The community on StepMania.com hardly dabbles in these kinds of charts.just because they don't post in scoreboard they don't exist apparently
main page of stepmania.com is stepmania 5. literally anyone downloading the game will have sm5
Including files that work properly on 3.95 CVS is fine for SM 5 users -- it caters to the larger group of players visibly on 3.95 and the smaller group of SM 5 players in this community; including files that only work properly on SM 5 caters only to the SM5 players and leaves the other group screwed. I'm not forcing people to upgrade their game engines to play one file in what would be an 18 file pack.Comment

Re: The X-mod Project Released!
Listen I really don't want this to get super escalated. I loved Gum, I wanted to include it, but because it only works on one specific SM build I didn't feel it was a good idea to put it in. I'm not saying people play any specific build over another it just comes down to the other files can be played on any build where as Gum cannot.
If you remember when I started this pack I said no SM5 files at all for this reason. Then people were like oh we wanna do SM5 so I said fine I will run a side SM5 specific pack, then no one else submitted anything but Kommi. I would have been more than happy to have an SM5 pack of X-mod files but it just didn't play out that way.
If people want to shoot over more SM5 files I will gladly still put it together. If not I really don't know what else I can do to resolve the issue.Originally posted by CharuMy dick is good, thank you very much. Downloading. Thank you for providing the SMO mirror, since Mediafire is now a beyond retarded uploading site (might as well remove that link since the site already shafted the upload).Comment

Re: The X-mod Project Released!
Yeah I didn't realize mediafire had gotten that way. Probably better off just using the SMO one. I'll change that now.Originally posted by CharuMy dick is good, thank you very much. Re: The X-mod Project Released!
still return to my original debate: just because they don't post, doesn't mean they don't exist. There are tons of people who are at my level and never post.and this pack isn't intended for that community. People in this community have established their preference of StepMania. A large majority of those members that provide feedback are SM 3.95 CVS users, as opposed to a smaller group of SM 5 users. The community on StepMania.com hardly dabbles in these kinds of charts.

I just think this whole compatibility thing is dumb. People who use 3.9 don't complain about rolls. They just play another file.
