Best of FFR Community Pack Seasons?

Good idea or horrible idea? Why or why not?

Essentially, all of us would become a fictitious judging panel of sorts and pick out the most-played or favourite files from all 5 of the season packs—of course, this will be totally subjective and will filter out several files in the packs, which would 'cause controversy to a degree. There's also the fact that this is simply a recompilation of already released files that most of you already have, so it's completely redundant.

This idea only manifested due to several complaints about all 5 packs being way too large in size, with tons of files nobody would ever play more than once. There's also a pattern to which files in particular people have the tendency to play more often and post scores on.

I need the community's opinion on this before proceeding with any sort of direction on this. Personally, I don't like this idea but if this is what the community wants, I'll deal with it and go for it.

Ok, so how would picking out songs that everyone already plays (while they ignore the rest/play only once or twice) make this any different? Assuming that people have some sort of reason not to play the files they tend to disregard.

Don't really like the idea.

edit: or I'm thinking now that you want to display those files. In my opinion, people will hop onto this particular pack and might not even bother downloading the regular community packs. So I'm still against it.

I say don't.

I feel like it will drive attention away from certain simfiles that at least deserve recognition but they aren't majorly considered the best, and it seems like to me that the seasonal packs will be unnecessary to have if this does happen.

Ehhhh why bother? I mean, we're already playing our favorite files from those packs anyway... And we're all perfectly capable of deleting files if we so choose.

Nah, I don't think we should. It'll completely take away any attention the files that aren't in the "Best of" packs. The old Best of SS pack is fine because the files in those packs ranged from autistically horrible to amazing quality, but all of the files in the Seasonal packs are of good quality, and deserve the chance to be played. Besides, everyone will have their own favorites; I can hear the bitching now if this pack is put together and someone's favorite file isn't in there.

I don't think the concept is necessary nor pragmatic given that, as already mentioned, people who want these packs have their individual preferences and favorites already, no need to do a prepacked, slimmed down version of "favorites" that might not even end up being "favorites" due to a certain individuals liking or disliking of those files. More normal season packs are appreciated though.

Yes please! I'd rather have more files instead of what someone else's opinion of "Best" is.

Also, might make a few people resentful when a file they made and worked hard on isn't in this pack. I still vote absolutely not.

i just have a favorites folder where i already dump cross pack files that i enjoy playing, and im sure more than a few other stepmen also do this and it'll probably just end up being redundant/unnecessary to release a similarly conceptualized pack but limited only to the ffrcp season series

Scrap it. Best of SS was a good idea only because there were like 27 SS Packs released so you had a lot of narrowing down. (Also I don't recall many ppl from this community even playing any of the SS packs anyways).

Making this kind of pack will encourage players to forget about the original season packs or delete them all together so I don't think it's a good idear.
