    Stepping affecting Health?

This is a rather random post, but it's an observation about something that happened to me.

Last night I was stepping for 2.5-3 hours straight; it had no direct influences and I proceeded to fumble about as normal. However, after another hour I was struck by a massive dizzyness. I thought it was some sort of sleep deprivation (it was about 1 am, though I often stay up till 4:30), so I decided to go to bed.
When I woke up I had the same exact feeling, resulting in a sprint (for as far as I could run) outside for fresh air; definately nauseous.

What I'm wondering is: have other of you steppers encountered such an occurrance due to long stepping sessions?

no, I have stepped songs for 6+ hours straight, I do sometimes get disorientated because I have the music so loud and stepping so long with loud audio cant be good so yeah
it usually results in me not hearing sounds well anymore, like background sounds and I'm just forced to stop stepping for the day
Its not a bug its a FEATURE!

Nope can't say that I've had anything like that happen. Though after long intense sm/ffr sessions I will get vertigo but that goes away as soon as I look at something else

DDR and Guitar Hero both make you see visually weird for a small amount of time if you play it for too long

I'm with this. I always remember how playing GH made it look like my television was growing when i wasn't playing a song haha. They have weird affects but it sounds like you're dehydrated and that's causing the dizziness and nausea as opposed to just video games. :P

It wasn't like vertigo. I felt slightly like fainting, that's how fast it was spinning.
I normally don't have this after stepping a long time, though normally I take short breaks while doing so.

Could be... I had a lot of discussions that afternoon. While I was stepping, I had a bottle of soda next to me.

                Re: Stepping affecting Health?

Yeah I happened to feel very nauseous or dizzy while playing Stepmania for too long, it's most likely to happen when I only have the light of my monitor or have a dim light near me (aka, an environment that really is prone to make my eyes totally focus on my screen that is the lightest element of where I'm looking at)
Focusing too long on the same "strong eye guidance" that doesn't correspond to the physical environment you are in (like : focusing on movements when your body isn't moving, or perceiving any acceleration, and focusing on something perfectly immobile just like a book in your hand (this has to be on the same referential as you) when the rest of your body is moving) can happen to make you dizzy when you get too focused on it, because I think it causes an internal unbalance between what your eyes see and what your vestibular system senses (it's just about the same phenomenon that happens when you're in a car and get nauseous). So your brain just cognitively interprets it as "something isn't right".
So playing in a correctly lightened place may prevents you from getting too much dizzy, so your eyes could make your brain interpret what is seen with a bit more correctness (as "I can see other things that aren't moving instead of just my monitor")

That's just my opinion, anyway. And I may be wrong since I don't study the medicine.
I fix it by opening the window and breathing the air outside, it relaxes me and fix the problem. I happen to have the same problem on a random basis and I guess it depends of your physiological composition in wether you're more inclined to have that dizziness or not.

EDIT : ALSO I think it's clearly more likely to happen when you're tired, because weariness of the consciousness is often a sign that your brain needs to rest for a moment in order to avoid confusion. Because it's clearly more prone to get dizzy and all in that state, it can't just fluently manage all the informations it receives and thus getting that kind of troubles just gets a higher probability to happen if you're pulling on your "cognitive balance" a bit too much.
So it clearly doesn't affect your health, it's just a sign you need to rest in order to not push your limits too far.

I sometimes hear everything slowed down (about rate x0.95) after wake up in the morning which happen when I played stepmania last night.

Also, I have never had this problem even at times when I have stepped for over 4 hours. I do however get bored easily if I step for long periods of time.

I get vertigo sometimes from it and my vision will get all out of whack for a bit, but nothing too extreme.

I get headaches, dizziness, vertigo, or some combination if I play rock band/sm/whathaveyou for too long without a break. I can play other games for quite a while without needing a break though, so it probably has to do with the scrolling in a lot of rhythm games. Just take a break every now and then and you'll be fine.
