I was just wondering, how do you make a stepfile? I know that you can edit one in Stepmania but I don't know how to start a file to edit. Can you do it in Stepmaina? Or do you need a separate program?

You can do it in stepmania..

Basically drop an empty .dwi and an .mp3 into a folder inside your songs folder then go to edit from within stepmania. Read the docs for the rest.

make sure your folder stucture is like this
stepmania cvs -> songs -> Matthew4444s in progress stepfiles -> name of stepfile goes here -> dwi files and mp3 files go here

and to make a dwi,

notepad - save as - song.dwi

1. make a new folder with the name of your song.
2. put the .mp3 in the folder.
3. go to notepad and go to save as and save as (the name of your song goes here).dwi and save into the new folder.
4. put the folder in the apropriate song folder in stepmania and then go to stepmania edit/sync songs and find your song go into it and then press (i forgot what it was look at the left side of the screen it'll say 'show keyboard shortcuts') to find out the ways to put arrows in and such.
