Q: How do i use StepmaniaOnline?
1.) Go to http://www.stepmaniaonline.com/ register your name at the forums on that site then download either 3.95 or 4.0 stepmania (preferably 3.95).

2.) Then get some megapacks and put it in your 4.0 or 3.95 songs folder. You can download megapacks at these websites:
Get the main stuff like:
Community Keyboard Megapack - Volume 1-3 (2nd link)
Xoon 1-3 (1st link)
Keyboard Megapack, 1.5, and 2. (2nd link)
Hard **** 1 and 2 (3rd link)
Hard songs 1-7 (1st link)
Midare 1-4 (1st link)
3.) Then start stepmaniaonline, and go to Options>Network Options> and type smonline.us
4.) Then go to Options>Profile options> and make sure your name matches the one you signed up at the forums with.
5.) Then go and play the game like you normally would offline.
6.) To enter advanced/novice hit ctrl+enter. The same goes for entering rooms and selecting songs. Once you're in a room you can change your mods by pressing up, and you can sort songs by title/group/difficulty/etc. by pressing left and right at the same time.
7.) OK, when you enter a room you'll see your name and some one elses name (maybe a lot of people) at the top of the screen. The person who is furthest to the left is the "host" and only they may pick songs to be played. When they pick a song, if you have what they are wanting to play, SMO will automatically take you the the song selected with the same title. If it doesn't take you to the song and it says you lack it in the chat box, you need to go get the song in order to play it. (In other words you can't transfer songs over SMO like you would on MSN) Also if anyone else lacks the song, the song cannot be played. Unless that person leaves.
8.) Once you/everyone have/has the song and everyone is ready to play, the host will then start the song and everyone will be playing the song. You will not see the other dudes arrows, only their names listed from top to bottom (winning to losing) will be displayed.
9.) Once the song is over everyone gets their grade and you may see the other peoples grades by hitting up or down on your keyboard.
10.) then the process repeats. from 8
You CAN Host.) You can host songs by creating a room of your own and selecting songs with ctrl+enter.
HOST SPECIALTIES: You can type this/these if you want someone out of your room:
/kick "username"
/ban "username"
Quotations are necessary, and so is the "/".
