Tint each column blue.
If you're hitting too early in that column, tint it progressively greener.
If you're hitting late/notes are passing by in that column, tint it progressively redder.
Possibly just tint the targets idk
anyway the reason I ask is I'm thinking back to the last time I tried mashing disregard; after you start screwing up you keep screwing up because even though the patterns aren't getting any harder you have no idea which columns you've missed or hit an extra note in
it would help if notes vanished the instant they were hit even if it was a combo-breaking hit too
