Uh, I think I need help with SM

Well, I have no idea why this happened. I didn't do anything unusual to my SM. I just started it up one day and it was running like ****. Completely randomly and I have no idea why. It has actually happened in the past, but again, I have no idea why it happened then either. It just starts happening one day, then it goes away another day, but I really don't WANT to wait for it to go away. I can't play or edit anything.

Anyway, basically I started up my SM about 5 days ago and it was running really bad; laggy to be specific. When I'm browsing the menus it's not that big of a deal, in fact, it's not even an issue, but it's still slightly noticeable. It's when I play a song or go to work on something in the editor. Everything runs laggy, and it's nearly impossible to focus on anything. Another thing is that when I wear my headset, the sound gets messed up and all crackly. Only when I wear the headset though, normal headphones that go into the speaker have no problem with the sound. I've tried everything I can think of, even uninstalling SM, and it still runs just the same. I'm using 3.9. Maybe I could use another version of SM, but I honestly don't want to. I like 3.9.

    So, yeah, any ideas?

    Thanks.

Try lower quality sound when plugging in your headphones, I think that may solve your sound problem.

As for the lag, try changing stuff in graphic options around, the vsync on/off option does a lot, try that out.

try turning hardware sound acceleration off or just change it to whatever it's not on. it's just a random guess but it have helped me remove lagg in other games. go to startmenu -> run -> type in dxdiag -> go to audio -> change ya ****

Perhaps I explained it wrong. The sound problem is just one of the effects of the lag. My headset has always worked fine in the past, but when SM started lagging, the headset started sucking. It's related, and I don't think messing with anything sound related is going to help with it. Either way, I've tried everything you guys mentioned and still nothing... Thanks though.

Hmmm... I guess I could try defragging. Maybe that would do something, but I highly doubt it.
