Is going faster on stepmania easier?

on stepmania i can do some heavy songs or ones that are crazy with tons of arrows.

On to the subject of the thread. When the arrows are cramped up i like make the song 3 times faster so there spread out am i just taking the easy way out, will i have to eventually learn how to play cramped up songs or is this considered normal and everyone does it.Plus since im here i was wondering how to people do those impossible heavy songs and oni which is just crazy. Is there a special technique or what.

No, everybody speeds things up...it makes the arrows easier to read. >_>

Not everyone speeds them up. some people actually only play them at normal speed because its easier for them to recognise the arrows. So it actually depends on the person.
If speeding it up for you is easier, then by all means, speed it up y'know.
And for the special technique thing, I dont think there is one, but i can give you a few hints that might help you out alittle.

#1: Move the keyboard into a position that feels confortable to you.
#2: Practice using four fingers(One for each arrow), If you dont already.
#3: Find a comfortable way to sit, It helps me out sometimes.
