[Question] Who want to be my teacher?

Hey, im playing Stepmania for like 3-4 month maybe less, and i stopped for like 3-4month (lol) due of a explosion of my hard drive ^^.

I was pretty bad, i was doing MAX 300 (pretty easy sim for you but for me...), and i was doing Soldiers Of The Wasteland - Dragonforce with no special effect, or speed effect on expert and get an A. I dont remember by heart some of the song that i want doing to.


I'm playing with one hand on the arrows. I tried to play with 2 hand on the arrows or on a line of letter, but I just can't do it. Its impossible for my brain to move different finger from different hand on my keyboard at the sametime.

So I was asking if anybody would like to help me to be better in this. For exemple u tell me "You'll get better if you play with 2hand on a line of letter, and pratice this song... blablabla..." You know what i mean? Cause it's hard for my which simfile i should try to do, and with wich special effect, and speed effect. I tried to do Trough fire and flames - DragonForce with 0.75 speed and 0.5 song speed. And it's pretty hard my brain can't follow the arrows or i cant press the arrows at time.

I would just like a teacher that could help me to get better on that it's not that hard And i would really appreciate it. If theres no "teacher" to teach me, you can just write your comments to help me and i'll try to do what I can on your tips.

I use:

Left Hand
Middle and Index Fingers

Right Hand
Middle and Index Fingers

Left Middle: Left Arrow
Left Index: Down Arrow
Right Middle: Up Arrow
Right Index: Right Arrow

I play spread, with the keys ASKL

It's harder to learn but trust me, you can pass harder and faster stuff easy with spread. Any DDR charts can help with learning spread. as for custom sims, W1p0ut's, Mr Edit's, and Flipside's stuff is great for pad and people getting the timing of perfects down

Dear god, that's NOT what you want to be doing! You want the arrows spaced out more so you can read them better, that's probably your problem (other than playing one-handed). Try to use C400 on songs when you're playing them at normal speed. If you're playing them at a lower song rate than 1.0x, or just feel the arrows are too cluttered, use an even higher speed mod (visit http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=10284 to find out how to get those). I use C650 and most of my friends play at around C550-600, anything less makes the game significantly harder. Some people even use mods nearing C1000.

Other than that, just practice. I don't think I was far past your skill level at your amount of time playing. And yes, switch to spread like Lar said; using two hands may be confusing at first, but if you're like I was you'll learn quickly and everything will be so much simpler.

Just play on song speed 1.0, on any sim that is sync right. Like I said, Flip's, Mr Edits, and W1p0ut's are fairly easy ones to pratice with.

as far as good packs to get, the only one that I played and liked alot was Japanese Collab Mix (it it's of a Meddle teir difficulty). I never got the SMG packs, I hear they are awesome but not easy to play at all. also untill you get good at getting perfects with spead, dont get any KB packs.

Just browse around databases and see what they have, it's really hard to tell people what you find fun cuz it's a personal deal: I like some of the stuff Kevin_18 made but most people sont. I also like my own sims and most people dont. On the other hand I dislike alot of Rebirth's SM files while alot of peopel love them.

Just look around and if you see a song or a sim artist that intrest you for whatever reason then just try it... Tho I still think your enjoy CR_fLiP_fOaM and CMG_UTOPIA
