You unzip the characters, and go to the folder that has all of the character names. Copy every file in the folder. Now go C:/Program Files/Stepmania/Characters and paste the files into there. Then open stepmania, and go to options. Click on Background, and there should be a characters section. Move the cursor to 'Choose' and go back to the options screen. Go to Graphics and look for Cel-shading, and set that to 'on'. Now go to the main menu, and start playing like you normally would. After you select the song group, the character selection screen will appear. Now you can play with characters.
