Back in the day when I started playing on FFR, I was a one hander. After downloading stepmania and wanting to go faster and faster (you know everyone loves messing with song rates) I decided that the one hander needed to go and I started indexing. The only time I've ever been tempted to play spread is when trying to FC a song that has triples or quadruples. I noticed a problem though, using a USB keyboard sometimes when doing a triple with the up arrow it won't work, the up arrow never gets registered in stepmania . After the shenanigans of triples and quadruples in destined marionette I realized that on the default judge setting it is possible to quickly hit all 3 keys with index and still get a great Never looked back at spread after that <3 index [though someday I'm sure I'll have to switch to spread for speed ]

Similar to Patashu's setup. AS KL Spread.

I use two places. One is the number pad. The other is the arrow pad.

6 fingers. Index, middle, and ring finger on each hand.

In my opinion, this is the perfect way because all the arrows are covered.

FYI more than 4 fingers is considered cheating.

I use <V86, has always worked for me.

Index is a bad idea unless you have a good deal of DDR experience.

My computer is a laptop so I don't have a number pad so I use
zx./ (hotkey) works best for me, got the spread for smitty.

I play 2 ways, Spread for fast songs like Strangeprogram using qw[], and index for songs with jacks or intricate jumpstreams/16th combos (ie Trills and some weird crossovers i've seen every now and then)

I play kinda wierd. Im so used to using the up down left right and square x triangle circle buttons all at the same time on my controller for ddr on my ps2. Ex if it was up down up right i might press up x up o. So my setup is similar to that of the controller, i use the arrow keys, and 8546 on the num pad. 2 hands.

I really do belive this should be stickied, but I'm not a mod.

One handed here. I do think one handers have a small advantage on jacks because they dont need to co-ordinate their hands to move at the same time.

Jumpstreams suck for one handers as do any trills based on the ring finger.
